This thread has been done - but limit it to the ones you are still kicking yourself about today - I sold 40+ games I had in my collection over a ten year span that I really should have put into storage or kept; of those at least 10 or so haunt me to this day.

- games I should have kept and repaired but this was before good web resources (only Usenet at the time):

Star Wars UR in near mint condition
Tron UR AND Cabaret
Wiz of Wor
Tempest (got a replacement years later)
Black Tiger
Berzerk
Space Duel (near mint cabinet, no screen burn, my heart weeps)
MINT like new Bosconian
Asteroids Deluxe
Robotron
Galaga

Soooo many more....what games did you sell, thinking they were too hard to fix, too costly to maintain, or like me, could not find parts at the time and then 5 years later repro's or replacements show up in the web, etc.

You cant keep everything but I really wish I had kept 720 and Star Wars. I let quite a few pins go that are worth a ton more now too. Not really the same as missing the gameplay but I really could have cashed in on a few of them :D

Tempest..got a replacement later
Bump-n-Jump
Operation Wolf..got a replacement
Battlezone
Pac-Man w/ 8-1(traded it in a deal for the Lunar Lander..so not too bad)
Punch-Out
Frogger

food fight - first game I ever bought.. I replaced it eventually..
cosmic chasm- very cool game. But too hard to keep working
warrior- great looking game, but its 2 player..
ripoff cocktail- fantastic topglass, but when I shattered my dig dug cocktail glass it was time to let it go..
qix cocktail - same reason as ripoff
joust pinball - cool pin, but like warrior, its really a 2 player game. plus it went to a museum..
defender pin -cool pin, but it needed playfield restoration and that was beyond my commitment level.. Plus once I let go of joust, I always thought of them as a set..

It made sense to sell these at the time, but I wish I would have kept our Berzerk and Frenzy. :dunno:

I'm sure there's more, but those two stick out.

Burgertime, should have kept it just because it is the coolest cabinet ever made and looked good in the arcade. Sold it because no one really gave it any love.

Discs of Tron. The only saving grace is that it netted me enough profit to full pay for my JPLW pin. Still miss that game though.

Robotron

Tempest

Battlezone cabaret

That's the way it goes I guess; maybe someday I can find these again and add them to my collection for a second time...

this might sound strange, but i had a taito under fire that worked 100% and looked really good...didn't realize what the guns were worth, it left my house in a trade that wasn't all that great...my little boy really misses our suzuka 8 hour 2 motorcycle game...wish i'd have kept it

A nice Berzerk with the bat top stick. My house at the time was only 1000 sq. ft. and I only had room for a couple of games. And I couldn't sell it at the time either...no one wanted it! I kick myself daily for that one.

Dig Dug - bored with the game. Took too long to play a game.

Donkey Kong - Frustrated with 3 elevator stage.

Black Knight 2k pin - Tons of fun to play but bad condition of cabinet and playfield.

Major Havoc (SD cabinet) - broke and needed cash.

restored DK Jr. - same reason.

Stargate (minty) - I do not remember. Probably greed.

The Stargate is the worst of these. I loved it and more than 8 years later, I wish I had kept it. Selling it was a real boneheaded move.

Ugh..I Started collecting in about 98ish..didn't have much room at that house thus I kinda lost interest in collecting.

I had a 2 car garage that I rented..had a car in one side...a bunch of games in the other side.

In one of my more brilliant impulse buys I purchase a pinsetter. Yes..from full size bowling alley and needed a place to store it. I sold the games in a bulk sale VIA the news paper for $500 Fing dollars.

And the list..all working
Asteroids
Asteroids Deluxe
Missile Command
Stargate
After Burner
Toobin
Defender

Just the ones I can think of...there where more. Defender is the only game I found again...Stargate and Missile command are super high on the want list. As well as AD.

Since then I haven't sold a single arcade game...and only one pin since I got back into it in about 2002

And by the way...thanks for this thread...brings back the memories!

ETA: I actually did sell a non working Bezerk..minus the monitor last fall. I sold it for $80 only to find out the Bat joysticks are going for $175

Yeah..I'm a moron!

I wasn't even going to mention pins but although I had and sold a Pin*Bot and High Speed (both of which I wish I still had) the crowning boneheaded move I made was selling a minty fresh, waxed and shopped Target Alpha - yes, Gottleib EM but a lot of fun nonetheless and in primo condition - on eBay for $400!!!!!!!!!:004_ssleepy::eek::(

Well I have a good story...I sold my Robotron Mini 7 years ago. Missed it a lot. Just bought it back this month. Never ever getting rid of it...

Those are my favorite stories - keep hoping something of mine will come back around....

The closest for me is a Bally Speakeasy pin. I got it for like $100 and it needed some work, but was playable. I ended up trading it for a Black Widow, which I still own, but sometimes I miss it because it was a pin and I don't play my Black Widow a ton. I did at least give Black Widow some love recently and did some preventive work on the monitor and power supply.
