Usually, when someone finds out I fix and collect arcade games, they typically ask if I have some specific title that was really popular back then, but which I have no interest in. They seem bewildered that I don't like what they consider THE classic game or whatever.

So, the "Galaga or Galaxian" thread got me thinking:

What classic game SHOULD you like (as an arcade collector) that you actually don't?

I'm not saying you wouldn't take the game if it was free or very cheap, but you wouldn't spend money on it if you had the choice, or would quickly sell or trade it for something else if you did have it for some reason.

Here's my (incomplete) list right now:

Galaga - too boring and little skill needed to play.
Defender/Stargate - it doesn't help that I'm no good at it, but I have no desire to get better. Quite possibly the worst game(s) ever invented.
Centipede/Millipede - Sorry. Never got into either of these.
Asteroids Deluxe - It's funny, because i love Asteroids, but for some reason the sequel bothers the hell out of me.
Pac-Man/Super Pac-man - I can get to like Ms. Pac-Man (I guess), but Pac and Super-Pac are just too repetitive for me.
Donkey Kong 3 - God, how they ruined the franchise....

Mine most hated but most shocked that I could have 50 games and not THAT one are...

Defender/Stargate - I could give a shit less. Play them every now and again, but I suck, and have no desire to waste my space or energy on one...
Donkey Kong - Again, I suck, but never really did like the game... I get asked about this the most I'd bet. I just don't have the room for something I don't love.
Juno First - Because someone else is already owned by the game!

Galaga is one that I'd actually like to get, people ask about quite a bit, but I wouldn't pay the average market price for one so I don't own it...

Seeings that I grew up in the later 80s/early 90s I think some of the "classics" per se are lost on me. I love the Asteroids games but defender/galaga, etc just don't appeal to me, although I can say I've prob never played most of them. I do like simple games though.

Asteroids Deluxe - I think a lot of people don't like it because while on the surface its just Asteroids with some updates - it takes a lot more work to get a simliar score, but I like it because I can get through a few of the boards so far and beat the friggin space ships, and say that I can do it.

pac-man. by the time I was starting to play arcade games, Ms.pac was out and imho was superior. So...never went back, one layout= boring.

Also, Pole Position. This is tricky, because like pac-man I beleive it has total nostalgia and history-making attributes. The fanfare in the beginning and the look of the cab meant it was a must have for collectors and arcades. But sadly, after one quarter and roughly 5 minutes of playing, I'm always tired of it. Pole Position 2 came out and murdered its predecessor.

whos in my mouth

You weren't faking ecstasy when I saw you playing this on the shipping dock with those 3 (4?) Mexicans, so don't lie. You still love this game. Even with eyes tattooed on the back of your head, you still don't know who's coming next. That's what makes this family friendly game so damned thrilling.

I have not even tried many games... but my least favorite game is

Quantum!!!
HEY!!!!! Whats wrong with Quantum?!

LOL, I say Donkey Kong because it truly isn't an epic game when I think of gameplay or controls...
I am young, but my all time grail is a '79 Lunar Lander which is much older than DK and I own.
