Games You Never See?

Kozmik Krooz'r

Never seen one outside of my gameroom.

Tom

Me either. In fact, I finally picked up a Wacko this past weekend and can honestly say until last week, I had NEVER seen a Wacko in person. Not last month, not last year, not 25 years ago. Never. Now I own one. It's no Kosmik Krooz'r, but for me, it's close enough for now.

Steel Talons! I only ever saw one of these, but it was possibly the wickedest simulator ever. I was also f-ing hard, maybe why I never saw another one.

One of those games to me was a Space Lords. I last saw one in a mall arcade in the early 90's . I don't think it was terribly popular, but I was infatuated with any type of space theme. The dual cab setup probably made them a popular item to scrap. KLOV only says 8 collectors have a dedicated. I sure wouldn't mind coming across a working one someday.

The other one was a cockpit Starblade. I played one in the early 90's, and saw one at an auction 5 years ago. At the time I had no means to pickup cockpits so I passed. I'm still kicking myself over that one.. Those were the only times I saw those, and would also like to get my hands on one. There are 9 listed by KLOV members, and I know at least one of them is overseas.

If you want to buy one, keep your eye on Ebay. I see them come up pretty regularly, and sometimes for a not-unreasonable price. The problem is that no one ever buys them because the damn things are way too big to move easily. The last one that I saw I watched it go from the guy trying to sell it as Space Lords (I think he did try lowering the price a couple of times), then trying to sell it converted to two stations of some racing game, then selling off all the Space Lords parts (I bought some bits and pieces), then selling off the cabinet (I presume the racing game got taken back out and put into something more saleable because I didn't notice it's parts go).

I have a board set in the basement that I plan to build a cabinet for. My general plan at this point is to build it in two pieces with extension cables for the second monitor/CP station (the boards are stacked and it looks like it will be easier to extend the monitor/CP than to extend that interconnect). But that's a real someday project, way behind several more pressing ones, which are way behind 'keeping the working stuff working'.

Professor Pac is defintely on the list. Closest I ever saw to a dedicated one was a Pac-Land conversion that still had the side art and lower marquee. You don't see a lot of B/W's other than Asteroids and Sprint and a few other Atari's. DepthCharge (Gremlin) is one I want to have back at some point. Had a Tank 2 but its not much fun with only one person.

I still have not touched a Computer Space in person. :( They look so damn cool.

It was also very cool to play Space Encounters last year at CAX. I hadn't seen that one since I was like, 8 or 9. Huge rushing wave of nostalgia hit me when I played it again. :)

Now make sure when you restore this one you don't straighten out out! :D

One game that I had always wanted to see in person but never did was Trog. Finally last year I was able to track down the PCB, but found it out it was pretty lousy as a coin op and was suited much better to Nintendo where I had played it as a kid. I guess Midway felt the same way I did which is why it's one of their more obscure hard to find titles.

I have never seen a Steep Slope Sliders cab ever (not even a cab somebody posted online). I used the play the crap out of the Saturn version, then found out it was out on ST-V and after a few years, found a cart only copy of it. It is strangely up on eBay again for about what I paid for it.

Besides it showing up on eBay like once a year if even and in cart only form, I have no seen or heard of anything else about this one

I have never seen Journey in person. I have only seen/played Super Pac-Man once, and that was on vacation in Virginia on the way to Myrtle Beach.

A non-arcade collecting friend of mine has a dedicated Super Pac-Man in his basement. Been trying to pry that one out of his hands for a while.

I realize that I'm a walking Fun Spot commercial, but I hope everyone realizes that many of these games are alive and well and available for play at Fun Spot. And at 150 tokes for $20, it is very cheap to try out some very obscure games. Well, cheap once you get to New Hampshire.

Some of the games they have that have been mentioned so far on this thread:
Xenophobe
Marble Madness
Kosmik Krooz'r
Astron Belt
Crazy Climber
Zoo Keeper
Super Pac Man
Tank 2
DepthCharge (and some other Gremlin games)
Computer Space!
Quantum
Rip-off

Plus another 100 rare ones and 200 less rare ones.

My additions to the list would be:
Indy 800
Sprint 8 (Fun Spot has a Sprint 4, which is awesome)
Pepper II
Mr. TNT
I, Robot
Sarge

And this might be off-topic, but all of the non baseball pitch & ball Chicago Coin products! I saw 4 other ones at Fun Spot that I've never seen (wall mounted baseball, soccer...) and I think Chicago Coin must have made a bunch of things that I've never seen.

I just went to Kelley's Island & Put In Bay this past week & found an old Sega (1970 EM) on location in the world's longest bar "The Beer Barrel". I also ran across an interesting crane game I'd never seen. I has live lobster in it.

Warrior - saw one once in Lincoln RI in the 80's and have never seen it again, and there also was a Sundance around but I never actually saw it personally, I just remember a friend of mine bitching about the controls.

My local arcade also had an Us VS Them and I, Robot.
