OK, so I'm talking about games like Williams "Robotron" and "Joust", where the Op can program in 'Welcome to Showbiz Pizza" or something on the attract screen. I remember seeing these on Robo and Joust when I was a kid, and I think it is awesome. I'd love to have some in my arcade...

So, what other games have customizable attract screens? Any others come to mind? Sound off, and post pics of yours if you have one!

Many 8-bit-era games can be hacked to change existing text on the attract screen to whatever you want. Making the edit in the ROM file is often pretty easy; the slightly bigger PITA is making the internal checksum routine not report an error...

Looking at your game list, Tutankham, Gorf, Phoenix & Dig Dug look like candidates. What do you want them to say?

Damn, that sounds awesome! It's just a short 1-line message right? Anybody else done this?

On my Williams multigame I've programmed each of the games to say something like:

Welcome to the Game Grid Arcade!
Be sure to visit the End of Line Club!

and a few others.

I've also set up the messages on our Tron pin and Revenge from Mars. Here is RFM with our message on it:

It's fun and pretty simple to do. Nobody really notices they're on there that I know of...but I know they're there.

I have Welcome to The Braid ArCave... messages on my Revenge from Mars, Robotron Mini (NIB), StarGate, and Sinistar, I have heard you can also do it on Defender but haven't tried it yet.

Can anyone confirm/deny if you can actually do this on Exidy Crackshot for the saloon/bar level? I heard a rumor that you could customize the name of the bar on the sign, but have not actually seen it done?

Went on a service call to a game at a company that someone added a nasty message to:

Of course, I fixed it (and the free guy every 1000 pts).

Here's what I have on my Joust cocktail...

Joust 2 also has this, so I imagine Mystic Marathon would as well.

My new TRON LE pinball also has the ability to add text.. mine says "Madoc's Barcade"
