Games That Suck That Could Have Been So Much Better

Bagman was the first one to pop in my head, but really, Mappy is the way better version, so I'd rather just play Mappy.

My votes are for the games that had great controls and not great game play.
* Major Havoc is so boring to me, but the roller is cool.
* Forgotten Worlds was so exciting for a minute and I love the controls, then it was just shooting everything with no strategy.
* Wacko is cool and unique, but disappointing.

I know there are a lot of anti-Tron people, but I actually think it's fun to play and each level is different. It's a great implementation of the controls.

The game with totally different levels that could have been way more fun is Journey.

Bagman was the first one I thought of as well.

I think Timber is a unique game, has fun controls, and I love the art. But I wish the game play was better. Maybe it's the view perspective that could have been changed somehow.

Dig Dug. As much as I loved it at the time, it's repetetive and gets boring after a couple of screens... And Donkey Kong 3 was not in the spirit of the preceding DK games, for my liking... For me a very disappointing game, given its predecessors...

Never heard that but yes "Donkey Kong Galaxian" is a good descriptor.
I remember when it came out - we were all a bit taken aback by how it wasn't anything like Donkey Kong or Mario Bros.

Donkey Kong 3 is bullshit. DK Jr. was a great game to follow up in the series. Shooting smoke up kong's ass is lame.

All Double Dragon arcade games.

Ok, it pains me to say it because I love Double Dragon and beat 'em ups in general, but they could have been so much better. The first one was a landmark, although full of glitches and slowdown. Part II was more of the same. Part 3 is just garbage. The Neo Geo version is just another versus fighter in an already crowded genre.

Sad to say the best of the series is Super Double Dragon on the SNES. I wish it was represented officially as an arcade.

Have you played Renegade?

My opinion, it's the apex of the series.

Didn't someone call this "Donkey Kong Galaxian" which is a pretty good description of it.

I always thought that DK3 could have just as easily been called 'Return to Radarscope'... And I'm in that minority that actually likes the game, despite its shortcomings.

For games that could have been much better, though, I'd have to go with Centipede. It's not that it's a bad game, but Millipede always struck me as being more like what it should have been in the first place.

Return of the Jedi... Pretty much all Star Wars games sucked after the first one.

I like it! I also like Zaxxon, which suffers from the same skewed perspective problems, so I may have issues!
