Back in the day it was a common thing to hear the sound of an arcade game beeing punched. I can remember some games just made my blood boil for any number of reasons.. poor programming, ridiculously difficult 'platform' screens, or just difficult overall...
I have not felt that feeling in a while but I must admit, that after lately beeing absolutely, utterly addicted to the amazingly simple Exidy Spectar... that in one game a couple nights ago, after about 20 games in a row, that my fist rose up and I had to turn my back... and then laugh that I actually had the feeling of punching the screen again...
What games from the classic era '77-'84 (what I consider the golden age of classics) bring back that 'punch the screen' feeling, but then soothe you with its colorful glow, its melodious sounds like a siren.. and bring you right back into her arms for more abuse?.. right back into that brutal love/hate relationship?
