What games do you guys think are still difficult even with the Dips set to easy? Some I can think of are ironically Nintendo games that I own.......

Punchout
R-type
Popeye
Contra

Unfortunately the top three games in this list get the least play out of all my games when I have people over due to their difficulty.

Popeye was the first to come to mind when I read the subject on this thread. It was a fun game when I owned it but I just couldn't get anywhere on it.

X-Men:
The difficulty is just varying number of enemies and how many hits it takes to kill them. Regardless, the game is impossible to beat without dying. There are a lot of cheap hits that are unavoidable. Especially with the bosses. Or I just suck at the game, but I've heard others have the same difficulty.

I would say DK, but there isn't really a difficulty setting. Just adding more lives. No matter what you do, the game is still challenging as you progress. I would think that applies to a lot of classics.

My first thought was Missile Command. I had a CT on location at one of my restaurants because its all I have space for there. Kids would want to play it but after dying 30 seconds in they wouldn't want to play anymore. Parents didn't want to play it either.

Put Ms. Pac CT in instead. Easier game that everybody likes. Raking in dough now.

Gravitar, I have mine set with six ships. Most people that play it can't make it past the first planet.

On its easiest setting, not hard once you get the timing down. But there's definitely a learning curve.

Yup. Not too many people playing MC at Flynn's Arcade the two times I went...

Baby Pac-Man

I remember my reaction to playing this when I was a kid: Man, that's hard; they must not want you to play the pinball part...

I get to stage three and thats it. I want to sell it sooo bad but the cabinet just looks so good in my nintendo row that I would have no idea what to put in place of it.

I have had Punchout for over a year and as much as I play it you would think I'd have the patterns down by now but I just cannot pass the guy after bald bull.

My reaction to Baby pac was the same as yours but just happened last summer. It was the first time I had ever played one let alone seen one completely working. It ate my quarter like i had never even put one into it. I was throroughly dissapointed in how difficult it was.

Willow will eat up the quarters with the dips on easy, fast charge magic, magic upgrade w/ every level passed and the most lives you can get. There are just places where you can't avoid getting hit, mostly the bosses.

+1

Again, great CPS1 game and I'm so jealous you own it. :)

He used to be my ultimate nemsis, too...

"Kid Quick: This guy is actually the easiest person to beat in the game. Throw a right to his head and it will force him to retaliate with a hook. Dodge to the right and then follow with 3 left jabs to the face. Repeat this pattern and he goes down in about 30 seconds. This is touched on above, but with this method you are forcing him to throw a hook at you vs waiting for him to do it on his own."

Give it a try.

Looping is hard... but I got pretty good on the Colecovision. Bagman is a major bitch... same with Super Bagman.

Love to play these games but I suck at most of them.
Defender
Stargate
Sinistar
Gravitar

Any laser disc game just sucked up my money, except Mach 3.

What is so hard about Popeye? I played that alot as a kid at the local 7-11 and don't remember it being too difficult.

DK Jr. always seemed freakin' hard to me, still does. Maybe there's a pattern, but it was never a "walk up and play for a few minutes" game. I always got an immediate ass kickin'.
