My 40' container arrived and I couldn't park it at the storage facility because I didn't "own" it, so I had to bribe the local bowling alley manager with $100 to let me park it on his lot over the weekend. Then I had to rent a 12' trailer with a gate and buy a new ball and hitch because my old one is boxed up somewhere. Luckily the storage unit is close and I was able to move about 28 games in under 5 hours. The minis I moved the day before with my truck only. I got an early start to minimize the gawkers, as I imagine a 12 foot trailer full of vids is not a common site. I didn't have my Chicago friends to help me this time and did it solo. Thankfully it was down ramp this time. Storage unit is packed to the end. Robotron, Galaga, and Ms Pac CT went to the rental house. All the rest will sit in the climate controlled storage until we buy a house.

The good news is moving the games set me back only about $800 plus the bribes and trailer. The company picked up the rest, as I labeled it house hold goods :)

To the local AK collectors, I am definitely ready for that beer!

Chris

Congrats man!

Look forward to meeting you

That's hard work, that many games by yourself. I know because I thought I was going to die when I did it with about the same number of games.

Happy to hear that the move was successful and more importantly uneventful. I only moved a bunch of games a few times (in the same spot for 19yrs now) but after the 2nd move all the pizza and beer I could buy still didn't garnish any help. LOL I don't blame them, I always ended up living on the 3rd floor.

Beautiful country up there. Old high school friend lived up there for years. Winters were hard on him. Good thing you have a strong indoor hobby.

Glad you and your games made it up there.
Here's a beer (or two) on me ... :)

I am glad that everyone and everything arrived safely. Relocating with games is a bitch. I moved back to Nebraska from Oregon 10 years ago. Back then, it was just the girlfriend (now wife), me and the cat with everything we owned crammed into a rental truck. I had 7 games at the time and they took up a lot of room in that truck. We had our pickup on a car transport and it was jammed full of stuff. We gave a few things to neighbors but all of the games fit. That was a 1700 mile trip and I never want to do that again. Now that I have kids and 4 pets, there is no way.

Right now all your games are like... "what the f$%k! It's cold!"

:D

Enjoy your new adventure. The new friends you are going to make are going to love your arcade!

Congrats! Glad to have you aboard.

And for the record we drink Alaskan beer up here, and rarely "Alaskan"(TM) beer. It's pretty crazy how many class-act microbreweries we got now.
