Saw a few games out today when I stopped into a laundromat to see if they had any games.

They look rather sad. Washed out monitors, etc. The far left machine had an SF bezel and SF III marquee with some fighting VS. title in it. Metal Slug 3 (I think) was next. The Ms. Pac looks really sad. The 'Final Fight' machine has an over head flying shooter game installed. There was room for another game. Can't imagine these do much traffic but it is a place to 'store' machines without storing them.

Laundromats are depressing places.

Gotta love the diamond plate fronts... bad area I guess?

It could be (though I would be discouraged from being there day or night). Lots of uh immigrants when I was there. I would do the same no matter where I placed games, though. Games are too easy to get into without some hefty bars on the front and maybe even the back to discourage thieves. This is an unattended laundromat (aren't most these days?). I would expect there are cameras there. Wondered what they would think of some guy taking pictures of the games. :)

There is a laudo mat on the way home from school. I finally noticed one day that there were arcade machines in it. I was thrilled to see a umk3 and a galaga. umk3 was the cab that got me into collecting, and i never pass an opportunity to play it. I put a quarter in and chose my character. Run, HP and one on the directionals didnt work. I got mad and slammed my fist on the CP and the test screen poped up. fuck laundromats

That seems to be the case - games in laundromats and they aren't taken care of at all. I find the control problems more often than not on games in the wild. That makes me not want to play them because of past experiences. Not the way to run a business (not taking care of the most basic and important part of the game). And it will turn off people that come in time after time if the controls are not working. They get the one-off person but no more. :)

this is what operators do to these machines - who cares what it looks like - as long as people are throwing quarters into them

Unfortunately that is their short sighted approach. They are getting something by just having them out there. My point is they could do better by having them in working order. The operators I know and worked for would not run their route that sloppily because they know better and some people still take pride in their work. :)

the laundromat i play at has several classics and some pins. most are in at least decent condition, and they actually did some recent repairs on the broken ones! i took some video a few months ago...

wow dude. I consider that an arcade with a laundromat in it. Not a Laundromat with arcade games in it. That's crazy! There is some serious gaming in that place. Hardly the norm for a basic laundry joint.

God, I swear every time somebody say's game and laundromat .. I get depressed and a little teary eyed! I'll never forget the Sly Spy machine in our local laundromat and the late late nights I was over there playing it. I would have never known about it if it wasn't for my Mom's washing machine breaking down on her a few years ago. I left messages on the bulletin board in the laundromat as well as the complaint/topic box. I am still trying to hunt down this game. I've been in contact with the old owner of the laundromat .. but still awaiting word back from the new owners............. I WILL FIND IT!!!

My PPII came from a garbage pile in front of a laundry mat... luckily one of my workers happened to pass by and called me.. I've got about $130 into it and it works perfect and looks pretty good for being in a bad neighborhood laundry...

So I had my camera with me today and finally snapped of photo of two wild games. These are in the only Laundromat in my town. Not too bad of titles either, although the cabs could be prettier.
These were working last week when I was there, now the Op Wolf has an I/O Error showing on the screen.

Jeez, how typical.

Anyways, just thought I'd add.

There's a laundromat close to where I get my hair cut and they have a nice assortment of games. I'll try to snap a picture this weekend as it's about time for another haircut. I believe they have a Need for Speed sitdown, Ms. Pac, Raiden 2, Neo-Geo and other games in there. Not bad at all and everytime I've taken my son in there to play some games there has always been at least one or two games swapped out.

Where was this? I saw a laundromat in Pflugerville that had TWO dedicated Ms. Pac cabs (along with 3 or 4 others). Not sure if they both played Ms. Pac, though, as I only saw them through the window.

I'm thinking about adding an "In The Wild" page to my website for those here (or coming here) who want to know what's available to play and where...

The laundromat around here has a few games in there... I don't have any pictures. But a couple of Ms. Pac, a few racing games, some fighting games, and some classics I've been slowly working on weaseling from the guy (do repairs for cabinets). So far I've gotten a BattleZone and Dragon's Lair from him... now I'm going to start working on getting the Asteroids.

Pretty much all of the machines there have been there since they were delivered from the factory BITD. Doesn't mean they're in great shape, just means they're not in as bad a shape as they could be. Either way, they're all dusty as hell inside.
