So... the pin guys like to connect their pins to subwoofers. I just got a clearance PSW110 (Polk) for $99 at best buy. I was planning to hook it to a pin, but then I thought...

Why not hook it to a vid?!

Anyone have experience doing this? What games really shine with a sub?

I think I'd try Marble Madness and Tempest first.

Thoughts?

One of the speakers was out on my Gyruss so temporarily I hooked it to a computer speaker system that had a sub. It sounded fantastic.

Yeah, put a $30 computer speaker with sub on my mame system, makes all the difference.....highlights are bouncing fruit on ms. pac-man, donkey kong, and robotron with all the underlying bass that you miss on the standard set up.

I installed a subwoofer in my KI cab. I had my old amp, sub, and power inverter sitting in the garage collection dust, so I gathered it all up, installed everything and it's...amazing. Here's how it works...

1) Mount amp to top of sub box.
2) Splice 115vac - 12vdc (15amps) inverter power cable to cab's 115vac power.
3) Cut some RCA cables and put them in-line with the cab's speaker wires.
4) Run the wire from the inverter's "+" to the amp's "+12 and REM" connections.
5) Run the wire from the inverter's "-" to the amps' "GND" connection.
6) Turn on inverter and adjust amp volume/equalizer according to taste.

I want to do this with my Battlezone. The low rumbling of the tank would be amazing on a sub.

Ha! Think about Donkey Kong stomping his feet!

Check the games on MAME or something first. DK does not actually have any low frequency sounds and would not benefit from a subwoofer, believe it or not. The foot stomp is optimized for mid-range only.

Been rigging up video game subs since 1989!
Some games really come alive with it.

I put a sub and computer speakers in an ivan stewart off road which was awesome! Especially when you start mashing on the nitrous button the whole house shook.

I currently wired up my splatterhouse with a sub and computer speakers and the whole cabinet shakes, great music too...so cool and creepy!

I have an idle external subwoofer, and I really want to try it with my newly-acquired Multivector. So many projects, so little time.
