Ok construction has begun. In Gameroom Project - Part 1 you saw the basement before I started, full. Here is what it looks like before start of the day today. The photos are from each of the 4 corners of the basement. I will update this post each week unless you need anything before then. Enjoy this on my dime. :D

Very cool. I always enjoy watching gamerooms come together, I'll subscribe to the thread so I can see the progress you make with it.

Have fun, and enjoy the journey, not just the destination.

Here are the pics after day 1 was finished:

Yes! - are you going to use the entire basement for your gameroom?? - and what are the access?
Looking forward to se this finished!

No, I get just about half the space. Here are pics of the layouts. Changes have been made since these, but you get the idea. ;)

Looking great!!!!

It's fun to see things come together. When we did ours, we took so many pictures. It is good to know where things are behind the walls.

Congrats on getting this started! Can't wait for the updates

Wow ... so jealous.

What is the rest of the [non-gaming] space to be used for?

Looks like a Dance Floor. WOOT!

Wife's sewing / craft room. Her hobby is more expensive then mine!

The tile area will be a lounge area. Not sure what we are putting in there yet. Maybe a couch, table and TV on the wall.

I was hoping the answer was going to be "stripper pole", but I guess the wife's crafts take precedence. I understand - one of the room's in my house is "wasted" on my wife's hobby as well (scrapbooking). Would make a nice Home Theater Room too - what a shame.

Well yesterday they got a lot done. A new hot water heater was installed. They also framed out the storage area and the wife's craft room, which now helps define the lounge area. It is looking good so far.

I just dont like the area at the bottom of the stairs. It is now a 5' x 5' area. I wanted it to be an octogon shape which would have given me more room to bring games down and turn. Now I will have to set the game down and then rotate the dolly 90 degrees and continue moving the game. It should work out ok. I just have to make sure whatever game I bring down is a keeper and not swap out.

Wow. Sounds like they are moving fast! I guess that's the difference between DIy and paid professionals, LOL. Took my wife and I on an off almost 4 years to do our basement

Can't wait to see more pictures! The turn on the staris is a bother, but you can (and probably will) get used to it. When we move pins into my father in law's house we need to remove them and re-strap them to the dolly. TWICE! We've gotten pretty good at it now :D

Congrats on getting your space done!

Project is chugging along at a good clip, too quick in fact. Main contact is out of the country and told him to stop building till he gets back.

Ceiling in one area of the gameroom will only be 6' 9". Not much I can do there because that is where the main trunk of the HVAC is at. I wish 11 years ago that I needed 10' ceilings instead of the 8' I got. :(

I know it will look fine when it is done, but has anyone regreted starting a project like this?

I actually had to raise the ceilings in my basement to 6'8" in some areas since the idiots who originally finished it left like 8" of space between the ducts and the drywall. That may be fine for a family of midgets, but I got tired of walking around like I was on the Planet of the Apes. 6'9" will be fine, especially since it's not everywhere.

I wish my lowest point was only 6'9" :(

I can stand upright in every spot of our basement, but where the bar will go is the lowest (due to covering plumbung lines) and that is 6' 4 1/2", and I am 6'3". Even so, i don't even notice it anymore. I think you'll find 6' 9" will be more than fine.

After the first year of our project, I regretted it, and I also regretted it after it flooded, but every time I go down there, I have a great time, and the regret goes away. It's also really nice to have an area that is nice and cool when it's crazy hot outside :)

You'll really like it when it's done I think.
