I was wondering what most people think about a basement gameroom. Say you were building a new house, and could finish the basement.

Would you leave an area unfinished, maybe through doors, that would be the arcade, and could be decked out in whatever crazy way you desire?

Or, would you finish the gameroom area?

I'd either do full finish game room, or half finished. By half finished, I mean, drywall on the walls, bare celling, painted flat black so all the pipes, wires, ducting and studs are exposed. Either way is cool to me. I personally would love a full finished game room, but if I were on a budget, I'd do the half way like I said.

if you have the ability - walk out basement.

finish the whole thing too if you can afford it. when we bought our townhouse I lucked out with a walkout and they finished the basement (with a bathroom!)

these are musts for my next place. however... minimum the walkout... I can always finish the basement later.

we made the whole basement as an entertainment area.. I didn't really have a say regarding the carpet and stuff since it only came with one type.
