Gameroom Junkies' 2011 Gameroom of the Year Contest

So, we finally made it one full year of making the Gameroom Junkies Podcast by releasing episode 13 (Featuring our very own GorfChampion John McCann - http://bit.ly/vdAVwE ), but that also means we've been showcasing killer gamerooms on our website for an entire year as well. While I didn't get to as many I as I wanted, we were able to feature 22 amazing gamerooms!!!

I'd like to honor some of these collectors efforts by holding a contest for "2011 Gameroom of the Year", but I NEED YOUR HELP. I can't be the one to pick a winner, so I want you guys to check out the eligible gamerooms and pick your favorite. Simply send me an email to [email protected] with the name of your pick, and after 30 days we'll tally up the votes and announce the top 3 winners eligible for prizes.

A list of eligible gamerooms is below. For more info and a list of prizes (it's not much as its all coming out of my pocket, so if you're a business and want to donate for free exposure on the podcast or something, let me know) check out the website: http://bit.ly/tBtE9B

Awesome. I know my initial pick of the year, but I need to investigate the others first.

Alright, my vote is in. Some very close second place people, but I know who had the best of the year.

Shameless self-promotion alert: check out the video in my signature if you'd like to see the secret entrance to my game room mentioned in the GJ article on Zombies Ate My Arcade.

As for my vote, I need to check out several of them still, but I'm a big fan of The Lost Highway!

Funny you mentioned my arcade Dave; I'm more than likely going to vote for your gameroom...lol

Dude! That bookshelf is bad ass!! Nice work!

I can almost smell all the new blacklight carpet and repro artwork! Super duper!

As Seinfeld would say 'Not that there is anything wrong with that'.....only one set of repro artwork and one single re-painted coin door in my entire arcade.....painstakingly preserved all originals. 95% of the games have all original matching serial number boards, cabinets, power supply's, monitor's...etc......and I have personally rebuilt (not replaced) them all to keep them running. All original paperwork included with each machine....coin boxes with lids (shout out to John M. for the hard to find one!)....etc....etc......all machines 100% complete. 'Shine the rust' I say!

You can see the details of each machine on my website:

www.tranquilitybasearcade.com

It is just 'my thing' to set up my home arcade that way. Some days I even talk to the games to make sure they are having a good day and enjoying their stay.

I'll have to see if my black light carpet smells......and if so......I'll get the lazy OP right on it.......;)

Well, even though I don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning, can I submit mine somewhere?

Sorry, the 2011 vote is only open to the folks I've already showcased. Anyone who wants to compete next year, just get in touch with me and I can feature your game on the website and you'll be eligible for next year's 2012 title.

I know that's a long way off, but this way everything is in one place and uniform. Thanks for understanding!

many very nice game rooms showcased. To me 3 stand out. I've actually been to two of my three favorites. Although one of the two was not finished when I saw it but that fact actually makes the finished product more impressive knowing how big a change was made. Truly a hard call as to which is the best.

Here's a one-week bump.

Just a reminder, you now have just a few more weeks to cast your votes. Almost 50 votes so far and it is clear to me that some people are positioning themselves to win by having co-workers vote for them, which is totally fine. Just realize that since this is popular vote, you may want to enlist some help to make sure your favorite wins. Good luck to all!
