Okay, this has one of the SSU-2 sound boards.
Schematic: http://www.pinrepair.com/gp/manuals/gp-sch-ssu2.pdf
So, my pinball starts up just fine. I have sounds, get the 'ratatatatatat' and I'm up. Right after that, I can hear some humming that starts to get louder. Soon I'll hear some random noises that lasts for about 10-15 seconds, then it goes away. I can start a game and get normal sounds (I guess, as I've never played it before). I get the "horse gallop" sound with the spinner, the "gunshot" sound when you hit the drop targets, etc. I get a high-pitched sound when hitting the pop bumpers (ricochet?).
Anyways, sometimes it plays fine, and other times I start to get a high-pitched constant noise out of the speaker. This noise gets louder and louder over a couple of minutes, and eventually it starts interfering with the game running properly. If I unplug power to the sound board, the sounds go away but the game runs fine.
Any ideas? Unfortunately, Marvin's site only talks about sound issues with the MSU sound board. Perhaps I should recap it?
Marvin's site did say something about there being some weird noises during boot-up on a Sharpshooter, but that's supposed to stop after the 6th flash on the MPU, but these sounds are happening afterwards.
This is my only issue left to fix. Someone got a clue?
