How expensive are these now? Can't seem to find one anywhere. Are they really that much better than the third party ones out there? Anyone have experience with a good third party cable?

Yeah, first party gamecube non-composite cables are HTF. I would think 3rd party S-video would work just fine, but I don't know. The composite cable alone goes for like $150 on eBay. Craziness.

If you want 480p quality Gamecube gaming, for games that are compatible, just play your Gamecube games through an older Wii via Wii's component cable. That's what I've been doing.

I actually want one for an N64. I went ahead and ordered a 3rd party one...we'll see how good it is

I've never owned a 64 before. Everyone else had one bitd so I never felt the need...got plenty of my fill of goldeneye, mario kart/party/golf/etc. It was also funny back then watching all your friends getting the *exact* same games for xmas or any time else because they were so slow to trickle out after the system came out. But now I'm finding a lot of cool exclusive odd titles, and everything seems pretty cheap to pick up in complete form.

I have one somewhere. I don't think it works, though. It came off a Game Cube store kiosk. I have a faint memory of replacing it with a standard cable because of an audio problem or video, I forget...
