What grinds your gears the most when hammering out a deal?
For me, it's receiving pics only to find out the items you really want are not available. Seriously, why not take the time to make your trade ready and only show what you are willing to let go of!
maybe im getting old and cranky but after 25 years, i wonder why this keeps happening??

I honestly have never heard of this happening ever. When making a trade, isn't it usually words first, pictures later? I guess I've only done two or three trades in my 20 years, but that's usually how they worked. You offer a game up for trade and an interested party tells you what titles they've got available. You peruse the list and then choose one or two of the titles and they send pictures and provide info. Never heard of it going any other way.

The one time I did this, I tried to be as up front as possible - every wart I knew of on the game I was trading, and at the exchange, pointing out the warts.

Others might be different.
