I have problem with my machine.

It's a Checkmate by Recel, myabe 1975? I was playing the game and then it just went into TILT mode? Granted I am not familiar with the workings of these machines.

Any help??

Thanks

Not familiar with that machine, but you might see if the slam tilt switch has gotten close or shorted by accident. It should be on the inside of the front of the cabinet near the coin door. Sorry I don't have more advice, still learning myself.

On some of the older machines the coin door slam tilt switch is normally closed. So if it gets dirty/corroded it will not make contact and the game will stay in tilt. Clean it up, or wire a jumper to keep it permanently closed (as nobody should be kicking your coin door for free credits anyway).

Tilting pinball

Would that be the little rod that hangs down into a ring? It's loose and not hitting the ring. But my kids have been opening and closing the coin door, its set for free play, just hit the push pin for credits.

I'll check it out thanks

No, the slam tilt is on the coin door, usually near the lock.

Should look something like this

tilt

Check the ball tilt on the side if it has one. make sure the little pinball is not at the end with the switch.
plumb bob tilt. check and see if it is not hitting the side ring around it.
coin door tilt. check where the wires are soldered and see if they are touching.
check if coin door wires are shorting together and that would cause the tilt.
playfied tilt. check that also.

Thanks, I will check that out. It should be open and not touching correct? Sorry, I'm new to this.

Thanks again for the help, hate to call out a repair guy for 3 minutes of work for 60.00.

Thanks, I printed that out. I'm thinkin I can figure it out from that. I'm pretty sure it has that roller tilt on it and it was recently moved.

Wouldn't worry that much about the tilt ball --> that's just for lifting tilt. Your tilt bob is missing though, kinda pointless to have the hanger and no bob.

Here is the pic of the coin door, the only switches I seen were the one in the center for credits and the top rh for coin return?

Check the one in the middle -- look behind the metal "brace". Looks like the kind installed on one of mine. If it's not that one, double check the top right one. If that's not it, I'd start looking for some lose wires. It could have fallen off and the wires shorted out.

That one in the center is the slam tilt. Can't tell from that pic if it's supposed to be normally-open or normally-closed. If it's like Gottliebs of that era then it should be closed. Try shorting the two leads together with a piece of wire, and pressing the start button. If that doesn't work then try desoldering one lead from the switch (in case it's a normally-open switch).

The switch is stuck in the closed position and won't reset. That was my next question can I jump the two wires together to bypass it?

Thanks

Score motor running rampant!!

Many beginner EM fixers want to adjust the score motor switches because the score motor won't stop running when a game is attempted. However, the score motor is running because a switch somewhere else is causing this problem! Typically it's a switch that should have opened in the score reels (zero position switch) or in the score relays.

Above is from marvins guide, where are the score reels or zero position switch located? Are they under the score motor?

Thanks

Spinning out of control!!
