Game room with regular "carpet" - problem?

We just moved into a new place and I have a games room at last! I was wondering however - the room has regular, fairly thick carpeting. Aside from the obvious problems moving the games on this stuff, will it cause any problems, perhaps with static?

I was thinking about getting either a dedicated games room carpet or perhaps wood flooring installed but I'd rather avoid the extra expense right now if its not going to be an issue.

Cheers!

Static can be an issue. The best way to fight that, that I've found is to make people take their shoes off.

Super cool story bros!

I've got pretty thick carpet in mine. Its not a big deal and it helps a lot with the sound (especially pin balls).

You will need some kind of sliders for your games though .. Even the Teflon feet won't be enough. Your Nintendo will need some as well.

I've always had carpet and never had any issues with static interfearing with the games. It does help nock down some of the sound! Wood or tile floors and even concrete can echo and amplify sound alot.

I think some people here have furniture movers only they put them on their games to help move them on carpet.

All mine are up on 3" wheels. easy to move that way without dragging it causing damage to the cab or the floor. Also makes the game easier for me to play because I don't have to stoop down or do the splits half way to be able to see the monitor. not as short now as I was bitd...

Well I decided to go with some "industrial" type carpet which is a lot "flatter" if that makes any sense. Moving them on the current carpet was a nightmare. Then I will get either Teflon legs or I may try those furniture "gliders" too, tho I don't intend moving the games round too much. Thanks for the advice.

Furniture gliders don't seem to work as well on the low rise carpet.

On the other hand the games slide okay on the stuff with just leg levelers.
