So how big is your game room? I'm looking at a couple places and having a place to put the games is definitely on the radar, unfortunately my pickings around here trying to find a place with a garage (and within my budget) is slim.

One place I'm looking at has a ground-level room that I think would be cool for a game room, but it's not that big. I'm almost wondering if I would even fit what I already have in there. (The tradeoff is that the garage is very nice but I would want to keep that as a garage for now). I think the room is something like 21x13 but it has a small bathroom and an opening to the next room involved.

How big is your game room, and how many games are in it?

I have a 3-car garage. There is a wall between the 2-car part and the 1-car part. Originally my gameroom was the 1-car part... approximately 10.5 x 20...210sq ft ... I fit 13 uprights, a cocktail and a Arachnid dartboard in it...

That was NOT enough. Since then my "hobby" has taken over the majority of my 2-car garage as well. I'd estimate that of the 19 x 20 that is the 2 car garage, 85% of it is gameroom stuff (including work area). 380sq ft x .85 = 323 sq ft... for a total of about 533 sq ft. The 2nd side currently has 3 pinball machines, 8 arcade games, a small refrigerator, microwave and popcorn machine in it... oh yeah, and a treadmill. :)

Bottom line: If you're big in to this hobby... if you think it's big enough, DOUBLE the size and you will still run out of space...

Here is a mockup of my gameroom (well, it's been slightly changed since I did this but you get the idea)

I have about a 3000 sq. ft. gameroom. I'm not pushed for space per say. If I was organized I could fit a bunch more games in but I've got stuff all over the place. I leave plenty of space along the walls to get behind my games to work on them without having to move them at all. The bigger the better.

I have a 24x13 basement area I am using. I currently have 17 games comfortably around the walls with plenty of room in the middle. I could probably squeeze in 5 more tops before it would get to crowded.
I'm only looking to add 2-3 more max though.

I've seen other people make these layouts using google or something. How in the world do you make one of those?

My itteh bitteh gameroom kommittee is a wee 10' x 11' spare bedroom. 110 sq. ft. I have 9 games in there, and there's no way to add any without major structural renovation, so that's where I'm at.

I hope to someday completely enclose my back porch (Concrete base and roof overhead, already!) to be my arcade, it would be approximately 700 sq. ft. if I remember right. That is the dream. But lack of funds don't allow it, at the moment.

I can fit a maximum of 11 games in my game room which consists of the carpeted area.

Keep em coming!

Yeah the modeling is done via Google Skethcup - a sticky in the general forum has info on it and I even made a vid on how to use it to mock up your game room.

45x40 and I currently have 26 machines. I have room for more but really just want a good 2 player driver and a crane and I should be set for a while

My gameroom is 10x12 rectangular room.

I currently have 6 machines & probably can only fit 1 more but even then its already so crowded, i might not bother...

Mine is 15 x 40, my lineup currently in the Game room is:

First row (North wall): Monaco GP mini, Q*Bert, Frogger, Wizard of Wor, Pac-man, Ms. Pac-man, Galaga, Burgertime.

2nd Row (West Wall): Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Popeye, Crystal Castles, Gorf, Tron, Space Invaders.

3rd Row (South Wall): Stunt Cycle, Scramble, Amidar, Bagman, Track & Field, Bubble Bobble, Centipede cocktail.

4th Row (East facing Wall): Joust cocktail, Gauntlet, Coney Island, Black Knight, Defender, Sinistar, Stargate.

Rows 5 & 6 (middle of room back to back): Dragon's Lair, Tempest, Lunar Lander, Space Duel, Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe. Star Castle, Armor Attack, BattleZone, Missile Command, Pole Position, Star wars, Red Tent (exitebike & mario bros).

Update. Sketchup is pretty sweet. Here's what I just whipped up:

ZAMA_sketch1.jpg

The pin is an Addams Family, and I also have Time Traveler on the open wall in the back. I couldn't find a model for it. The Star Wars Trilogy machine has a Namco chair, which is why there's a gap in the sketchup between that and The Addams Family. Holosseum hangs out just outside of the game room, and my Warlords cocktail is by my bar- so they're not in the sketch.
