This is 1 type of floor system i do , this might give you some ideas for your game room . A way to rehash that old carpet or vinyl . this slab has been ground back to Aggregate [ it was woeful ] , then i troweled a 2mm thick clear epoxy Self level over it , then it got 2 coats of UV stable Polyurethane to protect the floor . If you like this type of floor , you would have epoxy guys somewere around your area , i thought you might like to see what you can do with concrete . To decorate for a games room , some nice mats , or rugs can be put in areas , cheers to all .

I like it. Very cool

floor grinding

The tough, and nasty, part would be the floor grinding. Cool result though!

Yer it is , but i have the grinder hooked to a 5 ft high vac ,there is no real dust issue . unless your concrete is burnished and 35 mpa or more , general house concrete can be ground dry no water needed

The trick once you have exposed a nice pattern , is to regrind in a filler , then grind it off . This fills all the presure blow holes you exposed , and stops air bubbles bleeding out the selflevel , if you dont do this fill/ grind procedure , the air bubbles will cause mayhem , as they cannot be spike rolled out [ well they can temporarily ] , then you will come back in the morning , and the floor is full of small craters and air bubbles , set like little " cones of silence "

stencil basement epoxy

Shoot, you could even have it done in black and stencil it before the clear coat :)

Nice job on the stenciling , theres a stack of work there !! , just hope you got a moisture reading on the slab before sealing it , if it was flooded , that can come back to haunt you , trapped water will rise with capillary pressure , and spread out under the rollcoats ,,and start popping it off .

Having said that , the floor looks quite dry , and lovely !! well done , there is alot of mad floors you can create with epoxy , i did my friends bench tops with a crazy metalic swirl , looks like marble from hell , i will get some pics for you .

Google sexyfloors.com.au it is a Queensland Company , that does insane epoxy floors
just look thru all thier gallery pics ,

Hah , yer that could of been done , the owner was an old lady , i did this thru her kitdhen , hall and all the bathrooms etc , her eyes would have bulged with a pac man theme !! LOL

The floor i did was around 2-3mm thick , 2 or 3 rollcoats still come under 1 mm , so with a self level , i have seen templates put down , and they sand blast out a design , then a colored self level goes in its place , the end result is silmilar to stenciling , you did well there , as you would of found out , " tape bleed " can occur with your masking tape . It really need to go down hard , then peeled off ASAP , as once down for a day , it is a bugger to get off a lovely black floor .

Of course we've just recently figured out our water issues so I may go back to carpet at some point. Imagine what the next owners will say if they pull up carpet only to find a pac man maze :)

That would be funny! But I think the new owner would know because he would see your games down there on the carpet and figured you wanted to change at some point.
