After working on a couple of pickups with the standard issues (Tempest and Pole Position) I am wondering if anyone has considered a repair wiki to document known solutions and common repairs. Klov is a great resource but I find myself searching multiple old posts for solutions that seem to be repeated. With the great knowledge of many of members here I would think we could build a fantastic repair Wiki of games and monitor repairs and locations to source common needed parts and modifications.

Maybe this has been done but I missed it.

A number of members including myself have been suggesting a dedicated area for repair logs for a long time. The only repair wiki I'm aware of is the one at http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com - maybe we should use that as it's quite obvious the mods here are never going to provide such a thing.

I would be interested in this, too. If there isn't such a thing out there now I could grab a domain name and put a wiki engine on it pretty fast.

I'm always reading repair logs. It would be nice to have them all in one place and searchable.

The mods here don't have any power outside of the forum (I was a moderator here for 5 or 6 years).

Anyone capable of hosting a repair wiki and making darn sure it stays up should go ahead and do so.

If people want one I already have a new website setup that I have started to build that is arcade related and I can put up a Wiki pretty quick so people can add to it.
A thought anyways, unless someone already started to do it after reading this thread. :)

Yeah I realise that mate, I was referring to them not willing to create a sub-section for repair logs.

My thoughts are that it would be a shame to create a brand new wiki when the arcadeotaku one is already well established.

Even an agreed upon link to one the the majority can contribute. The two already mentioned I have not ever found so I will check them out. I think the wiki format is nice for this type of information as it can be updated and stay current and easy to search.

I want to find a good Tron repair log so I can see what parts need to be replaced to fix the ever popular "no sound" problem.

I thought about doing this myself. I suggested it on another forum and got shot down with "that's what this place is for!" I didn't have a lot of time to put into it anyway at the time...

Now that I've been a victim of the latest round of layoffs at my company, I might have a lot more time to dedicate to something like this. I already have hosting so it would only be a matter of grabbing a cheap domain name.

However, I have had a wiki in the past and it is ripe for spammers. So before I'd try it again, I'd want assurance that others will actively help keep the pages clean.

I would be in to contribute. I have subscribed to a number of repair threads detailing common fixes for Tempest and Pole Position that I would be glad to help out. I have also fixed a Tron with the sound being a bad 8080 processor chip and moving to a switching power supply.

There are some very knowable people here on Klov with great experience. It would be excellent to get many of the recommendations that they have posted into a Wiki form.

With the intent of VAP to help preserve these games for future generations to enjoy and see I would think a good knowledge base of common repair tips would be very helpful to many.

The tips I have found in Klov have helped me bring back many classics to a working state.

Tron Repair

I would be all about a Tron repair wiki. I have put out pleas for help to just see a ton of views but no replies.

no replies leads to no replay's :)
