Game list for SNK 120-1 and 150-1

This is the easiest way I could think of to choose between them. This list just has the actual games, not all the + crap. I just put little colored dots to show which game is on which cart.

The 150 has 20 games that the 120 doesn't have. The 120 has 6 or 7 games that the 150 doesn't have. Those 6 or 7 were all cheap carts, so I went with the 150.

I have the 120n1 and love it. I actually like the SNK vs Capcom Plus, since it opens up all the boss characters as playable. I also like playing the Metal Slug +'s since they give stuff like unlimited "heavy machine gun" and fire grenades. Metal Slug 4 + even allows you to change into the alternate characters (fat, mummy, monkey) by pressing player 1 start button (if you're player 1 that is).

Also, just FYI, if you press your Neo cab's test button while in each individual game on the 120n1, you can set up the soft dip for that game. Like turning blood mode on, time limit, if it shows no. of credits on the screen, etc. It seems to randomly go back to default settings though, but it is nice to see blood instead of water come out of the enemies on Metal Slug games.

I think I read that the system can only save dip info for 8 games, so the oldest one will be overwritten. Probably not a big deal with only 1 to 6 carts, but with the multis, they will get overwritten pretty quick.

Thanks for the list. It seems like there is only a difference of about 4 games between both boards. The rest are just the hacked + games on the 150-1. Dont really care about the + games. What does a 120-1 go for these days compared to the 150-1?

I am back to trying to chose between these. I don't think I have played any of these games. Are any of them any good? Here are the differences:

On 120 but not 150:

Nam 75
Ghost Pilots
Puzzled
Super Sidekicks
Twinkle Star Sprites
Magical Drop 3
Shock Troopers

On 150 but not 120:

King of Monsters
Sengoku
Legend of Success Joe
Super 2020 Baseball
Soccer Brawl
Fatal Fury
Football Frenzy
Crossed Swords
Samurai Showdown
Viewpoint
World Heroes
World Heroes 2
Master of Syougi Chess
Pleasure Goal
Breakers
Last Blade
Breakers Revenge
Battle Flip Shot
KOF 2002
KOF 2003

Hmmmm...guess there were more games on the 150 than I thought. Trouble is, most of them are either fighting games or sports(Soccer, Ugh). I know, I know, SNK is more about the fighting games than anything. Just how many KOF games do they need to make?? I want Crossed Swords and King of Monsters, but there are a few on the 120 I wouldn't mind that aren't on the 150. And where the hell is Magican Lord damn it???

I think I would play the puzzle games on the 120 more than the fighting ones on the 150. The biggest negative I see so far on the 120 is that the difficulty defaults to 8 instead of 4. Strikers was much harder...definitely beyond my skill. I think the system will save 8 softdip settings, so maybe it won't be too bad.

I'm actually wondering about the game Twinkle Star Sprites. Looks like something that my g/f would get a kick out of. Wonder if its any good? Like I said, I'm not much for the fighting games even though I know 80% of SNK games were just that. But wouldn't mind getting my hands on Magician Lord and Crossed Swords, plus a few others. Bust-a-Move was a good game as well.

Actually looks like one I might enjoy, but I haven't tried it yet. There is a review here: http://www.neo-geo.com/

I tried Magical Drop 3 last night, and that one convinced me to stick with the 120. I think that one will be really fun once I get a little better at it. Bust a Move is on both carts as Puzzle Bobble.

I figured I would stick with the cheaper one for now. If I liked fighters more, I would have returned it for the 150. I don't think either are great, but this one will keep me busy until a really good one comes out someday.

I have a 4 slot, and I think I am just going to leave the other slots empty unless I get a cart that is not on this one. The reset is already annoying. It is a much smoother experience with just the multi in there. The sound is weird on the multi if I have 3 other carts plugged in, but it is fine with only 2 or less. Weird.

I just tried Twinkle Star Sprites. It is possibly the stupidest looking game I have ever seen. It also happens to be pretty fun.! Shooter meets puzzle, the outcome is weird, but I think I will probably play it quite a bit.

Please, Please, PLEASE give me a review on this damn 150 in 1 cart. I have been waiting for SOMEONE to compare it to the others even since they first came on the scene. Other than the extra board that was necessary with the 138 in 1, people complained about the load times for the bigger titles (like the metal slugs). Supposedly, the 120 in 1 loads MUCH faster. So....

How long does it take for the games to load once selected?
What Kind of menu does it have? And are there screen shots within the menu? Any GAY music playing while you make your selection? (like on the in-1 Chinese jamma boards). Any other noteworthy info would be greatly appreciated...

The 150 in 1 that I had had sound problems, so I returned it. A 120 was accidentally shipped in its place, so I have actually seen both of these now. I decided to keep the accidental 120 and get a refund for the difference instead of returning it for a 150. I will try to compare the 2. I can't compare to the 138 because I have never used one.

Both of them have similar menus. Neither have screenshots, just text. There are 8 or 9 games listed on the screen at a time. You can scroll up and down to select any of the games, or left and right to move to the next or previous page. The 150 kinda groups games logically. ie, the KOF series is together. The 120 apparently listed them completely random, and it is a mess. I guess once I remember where everything is it won't be too bad, but it could definitely use a lot of improvement. You can't edit the menu on either cart.

The games don't take very long to reload, but you usually have to wait for the machine to reset, then it will load. It resets almost every time if you have other carts plugged in, and sometimes if you don't. Not sure why it does it, but it is not too long of a delay. I did decide to remove my other carts, though. It is annoying to have to cycle through the carts in addition to waiting for the machine to reset. the load times seem to be the same on both of these carts. If I ever get any carts not already on this one, it might be worth it though.

I don't know about the sound thing. It is fine now with less than 4 carts plugged in. The 150 sound may have worked with different combinations as well, but I didn't test all of them. I did try it in each slot though, but I can't remember what carts, if any, I left in there during the test.

There is no music during the menu on the 120, and I don't remember any on the 150 either. I just can't say for sure on that one because I don't have it any more. I just went out to the garage to check the 120...I didn't know the answer.

I think both of these boards are of about the same functionality and quality. They certainly aren't perfect, but considering some original carts cost the same or more than these, it would be hard to say they are not worth the money.

The 120 defaults to difficulty 8 instead of the normal 4. This sucks, but you can save the dipswitch settings (sometimes, I think it will store 8 games total, so the 9th game will overwrite the first. This is the way the motherboard works, so not specific to these carts) to make it a little better.

I think the only choice you need to make is which games you prefer. If you play fighters a lot, definitely go with the 150. If you like puzzle games go for the 120. I am happy to have Shock troopers, Magical Drop 3, and Twinklestar Sprites that are not on the 150, so I think I made the right choice for me.

I hope that there will be a better version someday that has all of the games and an editable menu, but I think either of these will be good until then.

If there is anything else you want to know, just ask. I was frustrated too at the lack of real information about these carts. The only game I had was Samurai Showdown 4, so I was willing to take a little bit of risk to add to my cab's potential.

Twinkle Star Sprites looks........Interesting. Odd, but interesting. Like I said, I think my g/f would get a kick out of it. But I want to play Crossed Swords which of course has to be on the other cart. And you would think after all this time they would have added Magican Lord to one of the carts. There is a Twinkle Star Sprite game on Ebay but the guy wants $200+ for it. Didn't know it was that rare.

Thanks for the information. I have been waiting for quite some time to hear a review. Every time a "new/better" one comes out, I am very skeptical of it's function until I hear reviews from several people. To this very day, there are STILL people who claim that some of these in-1 boards will work properly in the multi-slot cabinets, even with other cartridges installed in the slots.

I have a dedicated 4 slot. I have two 1-slot boards (with stereo output), two 4-slot boards and one 6-slot board. I have been trying to figure out what is the best solution. I already have a 100-in-1 board, but there are games that are on the other boards that I want as well. I also want to be able to edit the games list to get rid of stuff that I have no desire to play.

At the moment, I have one of the 1-slot boards installed with the wiring hooked up for the proper stereo sound (was pretty easy to do). I have been planning on choosing an in-1 board to keep in it, with the ability to swap in something else (that isn't on the in-1 board) when I felt like it. Obviously, it would be ideal to use one of the 4 or 6 slots for variety, but I keep hearing about people having problems with the multi-slot boards and the in-1 functionality.

So, now that the FIRST person that I have heard from who has tried one says that their 150-in-1 had sound problems, well I really don't know what to do now. I have heard that the 120-in-1 works in a 4 slot and loads decently. I really don't understand why the "original" games are not on these boards. They are what really got me interested in the Neo Geo in the first place, back when the system was new. Nam '75, Magician Lord, Ninja Combat, etc. are all worth having...
