I was just wondering if most arcade games used a universal like key. Similar to the fact that all Nintendo cabs I know of came with the same set of Takigen keys.

Did other companies do this too? at least with the same game title, maybe?

it was mostly ninty.

most midway stuff uses fort locks ( or modern uses a ripoff of a fort lock)

etc etc

most of em have been changed anyways...

back in 84? yeah you could have probhably had 6-8 keys and been able to get into most. SOme keys that arent for the lock still work if you have a touch..

( ask steve aka john rainbo.. he got 2 daytona usas, no backdoor keys. Using my favorite key i keep on my keyring, i had both open in about 30 secs each)

all those locks went into a big box to give away with used game sales.

these were the lock of choice.
i had a few different series and a "change" key that enables you
to rekey instantly. I could change my #215 cash door lock to a #212
instantly in case i canned somebody who still had keys in their possession.

This has been discussed before.

I had posted a listing of all the various cabinets and lock/key numbers a couple of years ago here on these forums.
