Crystal Castles has kind of a disappointing end. It just says "I give up : you win you must be a video whiz", then fills the screen with colored blocks.

I always thought it was cool how it end of "In the Hunt" if your playing two player you end up fighting the other player...

Too bad that game slows down so much when there are a ton of explosions on the screen. The lag ruins a really fun shooter.

...Golden Axe's ending with the characters jumping out of the arcade game, then running out of the arcade and down the street was pretty cool.

I justed typed in Golden Axe Ending on Youtube and watched it. That has to be the best one yet. Golden Axe 2's ending looked just as good.

Such a big, flashy, neat game.
Intense final stage -- no continue -- you better be good!

Back it the day it was always rumoured that at the end of pitfall on the 2600, Pitfall Harry jumps into a jeep and drives off.

heh heh.. and 'back in the day' something like that would have sounded so cool we would have been playing for days just to see those blocky pixels do that!

I never got around to reaching the last stage in Gyruss.. but I'm guessing that you reach planet Earth. (?)

Would reaching the BBQ beach party at the end of Toobin' really count as a ending?...

I think it's the end of pitfall II: the lost caverns. I remeber playing it on c64.

I sold mine, fully working and beautiful, for $2300... back in 1993.

Nowadays, if you can even find a complete one, you can probably
just take it for free. No operator wants the damn thing.
I haven't see one operating for over ten years now.
Be aware it's a monster and won't go through even double doors.

Since it looks like this isn't limited to arcade games, I'll add that I really like the ending to the SNES version of Super Punch Out.

Yeah, it's what I assume is supposed to be his wife with another guy in bed. There's a bottle of wine on the table next to the bed too. The pic looks good if you blow it up. Must have been shrunk down when I uploaded it.

There's no ending in Gyruss. After you get to Earth, you just start back over at Neptune again except you need 3 screens to reach Neptune instead of 2 (and after the 1st screen, it plays the intro music, just like the start of the game!)

In the first Pitfall, you have to collect all the treasures within 20 minutes to beat the game. Can't remember the ending though. The Ending to Pitfall just has Harry jumping up and down as the music plays and thats it. Haunted Castle had a pretty bad ending. After dealing with cheap bosses and bad controls you see the castle crumble, and you standing there with your woman.

Several games toward the end of the 80's had several side scrolling games that eventually ended. I've only finished Rastan, which I thought had a good ending.

As for bad endings, I really disliked the Rolling Thunder ending. I watched a friend who use to finish it quite often. It was kind of anti-climatic. The boss wasn't hard and the hooded guys high-five'n kind of killed it for me.

What were someone of the best/worst game endings?

What!!?? you finished Rastan? Kudos to you my friend!! I can't pass the level with the ropes swinging over the flaming pit. I love the music in level one lol
