Game Elf not working with my CRT

Hi folks,

I have a Game Elf 412-in-1 that I'm trying to install into my vertical game cabinet. I bought the cabinet because the CRT is still operational. I removed the original game (Birdie King) and began installing the game elf.

At first the video image was a rolling, jagged mess (see attached photo). I figured it had to be a sync issue. Upon inspecting the CRT PCB I noticed that the video connections labeled on the board (see attached photo) did not match my JAMMA wiring harness (see attached photo).

The PCB indicates the following connections (left to right): Gnd-B-G-R-Sync
The harness had the following connections (left to right) : Sync-Gnd-B-G-R

I re-pinned the JAMMA video connector and the display is much better behaved, however, and you can see from the attached image ("Display") it is still not right.

I connected the Game Elf to a VGA monitor and verified that it is in fact operational but have run out of ideas. I know the CRT is working because the original game worked fine. I am not sure what model the CRT board is but the CRT tube is labeled Philips 19VKUP22.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks,
Larry

What kind of CRT do you have (not the same as the tube number, maybe upload a picture of the chassis/pcb portion of the monitor)? That will probably help others to help you with sync issue. Also adjust the holds to make sure that isn't it.

I believe the 412-in-1 is a composite negative sync

I had my 412-in-1 working with a K4900

Wow!

offset,

I went to take a photo of the video chassis as you requested and decided to adjust the holds one more time (also as you requested) and hit the sweet spot! The video snapped into place and looks pretty good (aside from tweaking the colors a bit) but that's for tomorrow.

Thanks for the quick reply and the adjustment idea!

Regards,
Larry

I have a Pandoras box that was labeled as VGA only, but when I plug it in to a CRT it looks very similar to what you have... Maybe I should adjust the holds as per what you have...
