Hi Klovers, wanted to see if anyone had issues running the new 750 in 1 game elfs on a sanyo 20-Ez. The elf works fine in vga mode, but with dip 1 off (CGa mode) i cant get it dialed in even after adjusting horizontal hold to its extremes on the sanyo monitor. I have a pandoras box 4 and heroes of the storm2 that work fine in cga mode with no adjustments needed.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, no hdmi output on this 750 in 1 elf board. This is the CGA and VGA output version, with dip switch settings on the side to turn the CGA option on or off. VGA output displays fine.

It looks like the sanyo 20ez can't adjust its horizontal limit to tune the board in. I have a pandoras box 4 and heroes of the storm 2 that work fine on the Sanyo 20EZ monitor.

Youtube video I uploaded of the issue:
https://youtu.be/ECjzX-GAxSk

Ran a bunch of tests and all came out the same with the distorted picture using jamma video output selection dip switch:
-Tried direct wire rgb, ground, and sync from jamma elf adaptor direct to monitor input pins
-Tried new power supply, same distorted picture
-Tried shorter jamma harness to vs adaptor through the nintendo filter pcbs
-Reflowed solder on the elf board on a few caps

Looks like a mfg defect, vga output runs fun otherwise. Just would be nice to hear if anyone has successfully ran the 750 in 1 elf on a sanyo 20ez for comparison.

Thanks for the question on sync polarity.

I read up on sync polarity and I believe you are correct. The Sanyo 20EZ accepts only negative composite sync, which may be incompatible with the elf board.

Reading up on building a sync separator..

Possibility?

The 750 in 1's I have are newer / different boards than than the 412 / 621

I had someone tell me this happened when they upgraded thier Game Elf 355 to the 500ish - It seems some monitors didnt like the newer board for whatever reason (old?, hardware?)

Is it possible the new board / hardware doesn't generate the signal correctly for this monitor?

Good to know I wasn't the only one, thanks for the info! Since I have only a Sanyo 20EZ to test on, it limits the experimentation.

As a side note, the new game elf 750 in 1 definitely doesn't feel like it runs as fast as the pandora's box 4 or heroes of the storm 2 multi emu boards.

Does anyone have this sync stripper .pcb file in a .pdf format or a way I can view on a mac?:

Thanks!

Update

So I built the Lupine systems sync stripper to see if the 750 in 1 elf output would be modified correctly for a sanyo 20ez. The sync outputs for a buffered composite sync and the other sync options don't make any difference on the sanyo 20ez, so I am concluding the new elfs 750 in 1 are incompatible with the sanyo 20ez.

For those that want to build the sync stripper for other projects, a screen shot of the schematic is attached here so you dont have to find software to open it,
