I just got a Gals Panic board that boots and seems to play other than most of the moving sprites have scrambled graphics, as does things like the score, I'll try to get some video later. I've since cleaned and reseated everything socketed but that hasn't made any difference, and I replaced a 470uf cap that had been broken off the board but unfortunately that didn't fix it either.

And suggestions? Is there something that typically goes on these boards?

Check your voltages and _closely_ inspect the board for damaged tracks. This can take an hour depending how closely you check. If you have a multimeter, you can use it's continuity test to check any tracks that look like they may be damaged.

Thanks, I'll do that, there are some cracks where the board mounting legs mounted because they were bent but there doesn't seem to be any damage to traces, but I'll look closer.

Damn this thing has a lot of programmable chips like PEELs and GALs, I don't suppose anyone has a schematic around? The available manual doesn't have them.

Wicked old thread, but i found a solution on mine that was acting similarly.

Repair Log: Gals Panic

Symptom: missing sprites scrambled sprites

Solution: Flexing board caused changes in sprites, occasionally one would momentarily be correct. Pushing individual ICs demonstrated QFP at IC10 had most impact. Inspecting legs, one was out of alignment on its pad and not soldered. I am painstakingly going through each and resoldering each leg on the side of IC67 where the poor solder joint was. Issue fixed.
