Is there already someone out there making a Gallag to Galaga adapter? I have a couple of Gallag boards here and I wouldn't mind getting one in my Galaga cabinet just to have something running in there for now.

I can order the parts from Bob Roberts for a grand total of @ $12+ shipping. That'll get me presoldered 44 pos edge connector w/ fingerboard (which looks like it's going to go out to JAMMA so I'll have to cut the Galaga side of the board down to 44) + Galaga video connector. Is getting that and building my own going to be my best bet or is there someplace that sells some already assembled for cheaper?

My Gallag boards seem to have this pinout: http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/spies.cgi?action=url&type=pinout&page=Gallag.html

And just because I don't feel like starting a new thread. One of the "Gallag" boards is missing the little satellite board. The pin on the M74LS00P shows that the jumper wire from the satellite board USED to be there, but the socket the board would plug into just has a regular EPROM in there. Ideas?

So there's just a windowed EPROM on the socket ? That sounds like someone just stuffed an EPROM into there.

If it's the classic 'Gallag' bootleg, which is sounds like, you can use a pacman SBC ( Sync Bus Controller ) or one of the many replacements available.

I have no idea what it is... I should probably just install my eprom burner software on a spare computer and read them to see what's up... Just wondering if that was a standard hack or what.

I have 2 of the bootlegs, both are identical as far as the main boards go, but that socket (the one without the satellite board) just through me off a little. I'll just give it a shot in the eprom reader and see what's up.

Thank you

I think someone just stuffed an EPROM into the socket, as you can't replace the sync-bus-controller with just an EPROM. Unless it's a real sync-bus-controller, does it have a window on the EPROM ? IIRC. the original sync bus controllers were marked with the part# NVC 285.

Yeah, there's a window on it. From what I can tell it's just a standard EPROM (it's back at home right now, I'll double check when I get home).

Does the DigDug bootleg that runs on that boardset require the satellite board as well? I guess if it does, atleast I have a spare boardset to swap the satellite board to if I need to. Again, I'll have to work on getting te EPROM burner hooked up to read and RomIdent the rom files to see exactly what's going on with that chip.

The digdug bootleg runs on a different boardset, but the CPU does look similar...

It doesn't have the daughterboard.
