I see that the GALLAG pinout includes 12v... what does 12v do for a GALLAG board? I ask because I just got a Gallag to JAMMA adapter, the JAMMA cab I am running in does not include as 12v line I don't believe and when I attempt to run the board I get the "explosion" sound at the begging looping with a bunch of crap on screen... then the "explosion" sound stops as the standard GALLAG text appears only to loop again through the garbage screen (but without the sound)...over and over.

Before the multi game board,I used a lot those Gallag boards, some are 22 pins, some are jamma, some are blue, some are green.
They use the standard +5v,+12V power supply,I remember the board need to adjust voltage 5.1v-5.2 v ,otherwise won't work.

I'll mess with it ... it was at 5.12v when I checked.

Welp... no go.

I pulled and re-seating all the socketed chips....and I adjusted +5 up and down from 4.8 to 5.2 and I get the same thing...

Upon power-up I get a crash/screech sound for about 15 seconds and then it goes silent... on screen I get the usual garbage on screen during bootup, then it briefly says something about ROM OK then it loops back to the bootup garbage.

Any other suggestions or is this a lost cause?

No suggestions on where to look? Rebooting startup loop? I know there is a Gallag expert out there?

Hi FrizzleFried

My Gallag was doing something a bit similar last week. Turned out after a lot of fiddling about to be one of the RAMS (2114s) on the CPU board (either C5 or D5) (4Bits each so could be either)- I was lucky, it was the first one I changed. They don't appear to be checked during POST. I temporarily swapped it with one from the Video board and the POST then reported a RAM Failure.
Raided a 2114 from an old Commodore VIC20 I had in the Attic! and hey presto works fine now.

My Fault symptoms Were:

Sometimes:
It appeared to be continuously giving credits/ pressing 2 player button in fact it looked as if just about all the input buttons/microswitches were being pressed continuously.

Other times the game would just reset immediately after Power On Self Test, during which it would make random noises!

Might be worth a look - especially if the rams are on chip carriers (mine weren't on the CPU but were on the video)

Best of luck
