So last night I did a cap kit on the 12" (I think it's 12") monochrome monitor and brought it back from the dead. Today's issue was supposed to be trying to get the dartboard itself to register the darts thrown at it (it's not doing that). I reseated the ribbon cable from the switch matrix and the little phone cable thing, but neither did anything. I am getting a little blinky LED on the back of the interface board that the cables plug into...
While looking at the newly recapped monitor to see if the darts are registering, I notice that it's dithering in and out of collapsing vertically. I turned the machine off and on and it went back to normal for a bit before dithering again.
So!
Problem 1: What's with the dithering? The caps are new. Is there an IC that I should look at changing? The transformer on the board the chassis slides into is kinda loud, but I'm thinking it's probably not that. What should I look for?
Problem 2: Is my interface bad? Is my switch matrix shot? What should I be looking at to try to address the game not registering the darts? Where do I go from here?
What do y'all think?
