Galaxy Blue Arcade dedicates New Wing

Do you like it Jim? How well does it complete the illusion? How big will it project without losing quality?

I would do a search for "Spencer's Star Laser" and read some of the reviews. They pretty much cover the pros and cons. Overall I'm very happy with the quality. You do need a pretty dimly lit room. If you just have your games on, that should be okay though.

The stars are all green and move in a somewhat random pattern. The device is pretty quiet and runs cool. The best part is a purple colored cloud effect that slowly shifts in place. I use the projector in my home theater room and it's 25' x 15' and don't notice any loss in quality. In fact, you don't want you room to be too small as you will have the stars on your walls and not your ceiling.

I tried taking some pics, but the cloud effect didn't show up very well. Some of the review sites though have some decent pics.

i just have to say shawn, that friggin rocks. i was trying to find a pic of wayne's world for this, but i couldn't so,

Cool thanks Jim. Yeah. the Purple nebula is what sold me.

Thanks other Jim. I love this room. I am trying to come up with a good name for it now. I can't decide what sounds best. My overall arcade/main gameroom is going to be called Galaxy Blue Arcade, or just Galaxy Arcade, the bar area is going to be named the Lunar Lounge (complete with custom neon) The theatre is to be named Starlite Cinema. The new room has to have a fitting title. I am thinking:

'The Cosmic Cave'

or

'The Observation Deck'

Maybe even

'Terra Vista'

I love the whole theme integration, that's awesome for a gameroom. I don't have a special theme to go with except "80's style gameroom" but this definitely stresses the importance of doing the total immmersion thing. Can't wait to get back to working on my gameroom. I still haven't even painted stripes! I really want stripes, cool carpet (possibly blacklight reactive), and eventually a crowning jewel custom neon sign. One day...

I like "Observation Deck", it goes well with the mural and the the paint job.

I totally disagree about "german quality", to me that term should always be in quotations. This must be the first german product you've owned. ;)

I can't believe the price on that mural, that's pretty sweet. It looks nice even by itself, it actually had me considering it for a few minutes. Space is just not my theme though, my fav games were never the space games.

Hey Phett, That room looks awesome. Grab your Star Wars and put it where you have Altered Beast.

The Asteroids Deluxe looks great next to the mural. SW would too.

Star Wars is long gone...

Whatthe spitllesnortpphhhhhtttt....

Is nothing a keeper anymore?

/Will trade a Still in the Box Tempest UR S/N 0008 for a Cruisin' USA shifter knob and a NFL Blitz hard drive.

Thanks man. I am putting Moon Patrol, Berzerk and Space Invaders in there when I have them done. The other games will get swapped out with space themed games as time goes on.

It was a great price, and a great quality mural. I bought it at Steve's Blinds and Wallpaper online. The mural is a German product, and you know how they are about quality.

The quality may be there, the the accuracy isn't, I'm sorry to say. I saw it right away in your photo just as plain as if a Donkey Kong was the wrong shade of blue. The shadowed portion of the Earth should *NOT* show stars through it! Anything behind the Earth's disc should be covered up, as the dark area is not transparent!

Maybe you could paint over those stars, or at least not invite any astronomers to your game days. ;)

Otherwise, the 3D effect of looking out a window in space may be one of the coolest gameroom themes I have seen!

Yeah, I noticed, but it doesn't bother me that much. It was better this than spending the next 6 months to a year trying to paint my own mural.

I'm only now seeing this thread, but as I commented in another thread, your new room looks absolutely stunning. You don't take shortcuts on anything, do you?

Thanks Jeff. Oh I do take shortcuts, believe me. If I didn't I would never get done with anything.

Jesus and baby Jesus.

You, sir, are an inspiration to people like me (antithesis of "Tool Time Tim"). Hell I'm having a hard time just trying to restore one cab -- my first. I suck.

You know what I thought at first when I saw that earth window... was you had a giant glass window in front of it for 3D effect. No matter what, it looks killer!!
