I just wanted to let you know that my new arcade wing is nearly complete. This new little space-themed room was a huge hit at my party Saturday, and it was cool to peak in and see the backs of 5-7 souls enjoying the games pretty much all night. This was the inspiration for the '1 room, 8 games' thread. A huge thanks to Chris25810, as he spent his whole Friday night helping me move games, clean the place, fix a monitor, restore a game or 2 in the shop and drink, all in the span of 10-12 hours. Once everything was in place, we realized we would actually only be able to fit 7 games in the little room comfortably. This was also the inspiration for the 'arcade games and corners' thread, and as you can see in the pics, I went with the 'run one wall of games to the end, leave space to play the last game' trick. We tried the 'angle the corner game' trick first, but it logistically failed on all levels. It wastes too much space, and creates a situation where the corner game is nearly unplayable, as the rows of games on either side of it stick out in front of the corner game too far on both sides. It was also the inspiration for the 'wallpapering sucks' and 'Interior Space Ship pics' thread, and you can see the 'Earth view from the Lunar Surface' mural my brother in law and I put up 2 days before the party. You can also see my attempt at creating the interior walls and windows of a space station observation lounge. Pics:

Holy mother effing schnikes!!!! I had my apprehensions of the space mural you were doing, but I didn't really piece the concept together since you spread it across a million different threads.

That room looks absolutely amazing!!

looks cool. but seriously...do you have a different arcade theme in like every room of your house? Is the wife cool with that?

Wow! That looks great! I wish I could do something similar, but I don't have a good room to do something like that in.

Now, besides having a new arcade wing to hang out in, which rocks, having the new space to put games let me open up the main lounge area, which makes the wife extremely happy:

Natural light rules.

That looks sweet! Do you happen to have any pics of the room before the games went in? Would you recommend the website you purchased your mural from? How was the Quality?

It was a great price, and a great quality mural. I bought it at Steve's Blinds and Wallpaper online. The mural is a German product, and you know how they are about quality. Here is a more straight on view, but of course the flash had to f it up:

Nice work man. Looks great.

Where is that room located? I tired seeing it from the main lounge area, but couldn't tell if you could see it from those pics.

Thanks Shar, Colonel and Hatrick. I really wanted this to come together nicely and I think it has. It isn't overdone, and I can still add a few details to solidify it. I am just relieved I got it usable by the time of our annual party. Next step is blacklighting and neon.

The entrance is just to the right of the Ms. Pac cove:

You can see the entrance on the far left of this pic (you can make out Burgertime):

In the last main room pic, to the left of the dart boards, you can see the burgertime through the doorway.

EDIT: Too late. I see phet beat me to it.

I agree. And there seems to be a space themed cab missing. Hmm, which one might that be? I just don't know....:D

*sadface* I've already kicked myself enough times over that. I shoulda kept that Asteroids and my Sinistar for that matter. Oh well, live and learn.

Nice job Phet! That alcove reminds me of the mess hall deck on TNG. It looks like you're on a star ship with window views from space.

1. Nice relocation of the juke. It looks way better where you have it now.

2. You need space furniture now. Get rid of the country-style dining table.

3. Have you considered painting the ceiling to add more depth of character to your space theme?

Bravo! Man! Well done.

I have been thinking about purchasing a star field projector for the ceiling. They are like $160 though, so I will be waiting on that.

Cool, that was the idea.

I agree, and it was much more accessible being closer to the bar. It had backlogged selections playing all night long. Biggest hits of the evening?

The Gap Band "You Dropped a Bomb on Me"
Guns N Roses "Rocket Queen" and "Night Train"
Taco "Puttin on the Ritz"
Michael Jackson "Smooth Criminal", "Thriller", Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'"
Marvin Gaye "Sexual Healing"
Men at Work "Down Under"

I do have a playing blind Asteriods in the garage I took in on trade. Has a beautiful cabinet -- I'll even add blue t-molding to it so it looks just like your last one. :D:D
