I bought this cab a little while ago, and now the weather is keeping me indoors its time to restore this :)

Heres a rundown :

Monitor was toast, heavy burn WG k4500.
Cab has lots of wood issues on the bottom, definitely seen some water at some point.
PCB was fried on the 5V edge connector
CP and joysticks was bad, very rusty inside with some obvious beer damage :)
Sideart is in rough shape and peeling vinyl in spots.

I'm going to give you crap because why the heck not.... :D Wet application for that giant decal?!?!?! BOOOOO!!! JK...

Looks slick. Makes me want to go get another project.

EDIT: Shouldn't this 'technically' be in the restoration showcase?

I'm like, who TF is mrdude!! Then I got it, lol!!! I like making all my cabs moist before any application...lol!

And thank you! It's a little bumpy up close, this side had a sketchy prep, but the other side should be smooth :)

Do it! Get a junker! I still have 2 other cabs to finish after this 😜

I got the coin door done today, I was going to keep it the original gray, but with the cab predominantly black, white & green...I painted it black, and it looks stunning.

I got all the harness in, tidied up and put in place...I soldered the new fuses and blocks in, got all the new switches in the CP set and dropped the monitor in...the red tape is to keep the chassis level, I haven't figured out a way to keep it flat yet...so for the time being, this will do.

Coin door in black, polished all screws and the coin slots...looks bling in person. The rejector buttons I kept in its original patina, it can't all look like new...lol!

Your restore is looking awesome! I'm curious - how hard was it to get the bottom off and the new one back on?

I'm restoring a Ms Pac and I need to replace the Particle board bottom. I know i could cut it out easy, but I'm not sure how to get the new one back into the dado once i've completed it. Is that why you removed the lower back piece as well?

Hi there! At first I thought it was going to be tough to replace the bottom, but you see the 3/4" groove thats cut along the bottom, it fit perfectly into that...I just had to make sure the measurements were spot on. And yes, I had to replace the back part as well to get the bottom off as well. They nailed these suckers in...lol, so i just replaced the back and bottom, and bondo helped me with the rest :)

Good luck with your Ms Pac...thats a cab I would like in the future!

But did you get around to transferring this sticker to the new monitor?
Because honestly... that's really all i care about. :)

Actually the rest of this looks outstanding... great job!

Haha!! I did!! But, it isn't on the new monitor as yet! But I will put in on in the next few days :)

Thank you! Did you cut off the back panel or pry it out? I'm thinking I would reverse a pipe clamp then try to spread it apart then cut the nails when they are exposed.

I actually cut the back out first, down the middle, and did the same on the bottom with a circular saw then it was just a case of prying from the nails which I had to remove after...it was a bit of a job, but easy enough once it was cut in half

Actually, a little help...I have lost the screws for the coin door...very small machine screws, 3 in total, anyone have any spares :(
