Hello

Saved a dying Galaxian from the dump last month.
The lady stayed with feet in water for a long time and the bottom is completely rotten
Electical devices are rusted and don't seem to function

all the wood bottom is rotten and will have to be remade
The under back is missing. I don't have the size of this one. The back is allright (not shown)

Sides vinyls are in bad shape. Rotting in the bottom, cut and peeling at the top

Monitor is burnt and I don't know if it works
Coin door is rusted and black painted --> need to paint it back to grey and rebuild coin mech

control panel : ruined. Joystick is not original, metal is highly rusted. Bezel is missing

I'm currently looking for parts
1) Control panel NOS or Mint
2) Marquee Nos or Mint
3) Power supply wood plate and components
4) Bezel NOS or Mint

Thanks

Lone

Just strip that CP down, have it powder coated black, and put a new overlay on it. You can also easily cut out a new piece of wood for the transformer assembly.

This cab is a good candidate for a switching power supply upgrade! I installed one in my galaxian, and I have yet to look back! It's an inexpensive and reversible mod...

I have to go back and find the resource I used (a thread, here on klov), but the 7v is regulated down to 5v after the edge connector.

When you install a switcher, you're isolating any of the voltage going from the transformer to the board, clipping the corresponding wires on the edge connector (you can repin in the future, need-be.), and running two wires from the 12v and 5v output of the switcher, directly to the board.

still in 7Volt? i didn't find any power supply that did that

If you put a switching power supply in, you'd run the 5V DC directly into the board where it wants 7vAC. It will work. Likewise, the 12vDC goes where the board wants 14vAC. It just passes through the diodes that usually rectify the AC.

That said... it's kind of overkill and you already have all the original transformers and wiring. It's probably easier just to use the original supply. What kind of condition is the board's edge connector in?

They seem to work. 11.9 for the 12V and 6.8 for the 7V
But couldnt test with screen and PCB working

The issue for the moment is to guess what modifications (and they seem to be heavy) where made to the PCB
