About 8 years ago (when I was still new to working on games and relatively new to collecting) I bought a Galaxian machine for my mom for her birthday. The game was very well recieved and has had much love since. However, (mostly due to my inexperience) I did not realize at the time that it was ugly as sin. It spent a long period of time in a bar and accumulated a nasty layer of yellow smoke residue. This bothered me for a long time and I finally decided to take it home and give it a proper cleaning/restoration. Its a work in progress but I got it cleaned up pretty well. My wife is doing some very meticulous repainting of the side art. Its going well but is taking a long time. The black area around the monitor has been repainted and the T-molding has been replaced. I repainted the coin door. It ended up being a different shade of gray than original but I think it suits the game quite well. In addition to the artwork, the control panel and glass bezel need work. Its definitely on the mend, though.

I used a palm sander with 180 girt and 320 grit on the white parts. A combination of Mr. Clean Magic eraser and Simple Green was used on the colored parts. My wife has been working on the front today and the big bug now has a tail again. About 50% of the blue paint is missing but I know she will be able to fill it in.

Correction: The blue paint on the front graphic is completely repainted. I sure wish this was my doing.
