Just got my kit, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to fit the kit in the Z80 socket `cause there's a daughterboard in the way...

Anyone have a picture of theirs installed?

Here's a Galaxian PCB, and the Z80. I've made a red box approx. where the High Score Kit would fit in. You can see how it overlaps that second board, so it can't fit that way.

Do I have the direction wrong?

Remove the daughterboard. It's no longer needed. Then pull the z80, insert it into the kit, then install the kit into the socket the z80 was in. Make sure you put pin 1 in the right place.

That daughterboard contains the original game ROMs. It should be removed.

Got it.

Pin 1 is at upper left, correct? In other words, the kit should end up in the position I have roughly indicated by the rectangle?

Installed - works great!

Question: when I coin up the machine, I no longer see the coin-up screen ("Press 1 player start / Bonus Galaxip at every etc.etc.") Is that normal, or do I not have it set up correctly?

That is what we refer to as a new feature ;-)

lol, gotcha.

Great being able to use that dip switch to flip between regular / fast shots, and a high score table in addition to high score save. Those features made the diff. between an "eventually have" and a "must have right now" for me.

I'll post a link to the detailed instructions later today. Basically just follow this:

Remove the daughterboard. It's no longer needed. Then pull the z80, insert it into the kit, then install the kit into the socket the z80 was in. Make sure you put pin 1 in the right place.

Thank you sir!! Does it come with instructions?

Hey fellas, I installed mine just like the picture, played thru a short game and got this:

Then, when the HS Table shows up, it looks like this:

Now there is a piggybacked chip in a socket piggybacked on another socket that sits right off of the location of this kit. It has a newer label that says 'Galaxian'. Is this an add-on I should remove? It's not a daughtercard, just a piggy-backed chip.

The kit does not work with the Four Play mod from Macro.
You need one or the other... sorry

If that is not the Four Play mod and it is just a hack to remove the rom board then you can just remove that eprom and you should be ok.

I would also suggest clearing the HS table to dump any corrupt data that may be in the sram.

Yeah, I'll remove that ROM. The socket has more jumpers than the Golden Gate Bridge after a 9er's home game. How do I clear the HSS table?

Hold P1 and P2 down for ~3 seconds when the high score table is displayed on the attract mode. If that does not help then check your +5 from one of the chips. If it is low then the nvram will not work right. Should be 4.8 or higher

Yes I did, pulled the chip and the socket, HSS works. I assume I can remove the whole thing? It's got jumper wires soldered to it in like 4 or 5 spots. Can I remove the wires too? It's just dangling off the board right now.
