I'd recommend doing away with the ROM board and doing the mod which eliminates it completely, those daughterboards are a constant source of problems.

I had no idea there is a mod for this. If you can please post a link as to what all is involved and I will search for this.

Thanks, I am having a time with the daughter board and just want to get all of the correct roms and in the correct place.

See here: http://www.pinrepair.com/video/galaxian.htm Read Galaxian 2 game mod, use 1 27256 chip in location 7F and a switch and you will have 2 games, Orig Galaxian and Super Galaxian. You no longer need daughter board with this mod.

I am having a time with the ROM files. Every one that I have found in mame only have the u,v,w,y rom files as well as the others. In my board and files I have from a member here have the u,v,w,y and Z. If I don't need all 5 roms where do which go?? I think I a problem with addressing but want to verify the roms before I go further. I just got some eproms and want to be certain I have the correct roms as I have no way to erase them yet, Spent money on a scope. I have a set of files I would like to verify but the set I have seems diffrent that many other files.

I even bought another board to look at the clock circuit and that was diffrent. Instead of 74ls386 chip there was another chip there but the clock does work so I will leave alone. The roms were much diffrent and had no window for erasing. It also has a addressing or rom problem but this board doesn't watchdog like the first board. If I can send the files to somebody to verify that would be great!!!

The daughter board I sent you had the correct files, I verified each one before I shipped the PCB. Didn't I email you all the files including 1H & 1K as well?

Yes! I got them I suspect they are good but just want to be sure. I am having the same problems with 2 diffrent boards. I will burn one more set just to be sure but the files I have are exactly what are on the roms.

I will probably have to get some outside help with this issue. I really don't fully understand the "addressing magic" and one of the boards had some kind of hack applied to it. Trying to put everything back, I may have missed something.

For a time I thought it might be a connection problem and removed the z80 socket and soldered a new z80 to the board. Still problem remains. I still use the board I got from you and in the other Galaxian board it doesn't watch dog, same roms.

I will probably have Riptor look at the board and see what he thinks.
