Galaxian has entered the building!

That is a nice game...love the crisp Galaxian sounds. But...please change the T-molding back to the green it should be.

HOLD YOUR HORSES ! That black T-molding may _very_ well be original. If it's a leathered look and the serial number is (pretty) low, that _is_ the original T-molding.

My Galaxian has serial nr. 815 and first I too thought that the black T-molding was later installed, but then I did some research and discovered that the machine pictures in the flyers has black leathered T-molding:

I _did_ replace the T-molding, but with brand new leathered black. I could see from the way the old T-molding was installed that it was still the factory original stuff.

Your machine looks great, even better than mine :)
Check out my restoration that I fully documented here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=62784.0

And this is the final result:

The only thing still irritating me is the lower section of the kick-plate.

I'm really curious about your serial nr. ! :D

Hey yous is blue by the kick plate and his is white, what gives?

My Galaxian has textured black t-molding, but a fairly high serial number (#29565).

I have a supply of green t-molding, as most of the Galaxian's I saw BITD had the green, but now I'm not sure I want to replace it. The textured black looks fine, plus, it's been rooted in the cab for 30 years now, and I don't want to damage the t-molding "channel" by pulling out the textured black.

I would like to find a joystick with a white ball top however.

Kyle

Nice score man. Good price. Galaxian is my wife's favorite game. I've had mine for about 9 years now. Mine has the green t-molding. Looks good in black, too though. Congrats

The easy way to check if the t-molding is original is to look on the bottom or the back of the cab for the original copper staples that tack the ends of the molding down. Any replacement would be missing those, or they'd be steel staples. These cabs also originally had some staples sideways through the t-molding from the sides (crazy) but they can be hard to see.

namco had a habit of making their games too slow. pac man, galaga, galaxian, all too slow, all improved by great american speed up chips. fast shoot galaga and galaxian are way better than normal, as are turbo pac and ms pac. super pac they actually got right.
