I picked up a second Galaxian cocktail today....
I'm not sure how long BOTH will be in my possession. So I snapped a few shots!
Galaxian cocktail #4043 & #1816
I wonder when the last time...IF EVER...these two machines were this close to each other.

Nice looking glass on both of them! I hope one day a properly colored reproduction underlay will be produced so I can replace my incorrectly colored repro.

Both machine still have the original underlays on them. The underlay on #4043 was a little beat, I had to do do some hand painting on it. It turned out nice...#1816, was in great shape all the way around...no hand painting needed.
Its a shame no one has reproduced an underlay with the correct colors for these machines?!?!

Very nice looking games. Galaxian was the first cocktail game that I ever played and it's hard to find them in nice shape.

Thanks for the kind words guys!
#4043 needed new cpos, new T-molding, the black on the sides painted, the coin door painted, new bulbs all the way around, and the tinted plexi under the glass was missing. Two clips were also missing. Someone had stuck the glass on with double sided tape. It was a NIGHTMARE getting it off with out destroying the original underlay. I was able to, with a LOT of slow careful work and some paint. It turned out pretty good I think......
#4043 had 62,233 plays it! And it was set to free play when I picked it up!

#1816, just needs a good general cleaning, and maybe the black on the sides painted. The cpos are in nice shape, as is the underlay. There is something going on with the sync, as it has gone out a couple times. I think there is a loose wire somewhere I will have to hunt down. #1816 has 31,190 plays on it, just about half the other machine has......

Yeah its like the one they used for the scan was faded by the sun?! The blues are way off too.... I didn't think I was going to be able to save the one on #4043. That faded one was the only one I could find, so I opted to buy some paint and try and salvage the original. It took a while, but I think it turned out pretty good.....

Only Galaxian CT I can remember having seen got converted to Galaga and sold for an outrageous price. Didn't get a chance to play it as a Galaxian. I've owned 2 uprights, though.

They look awesome! Midway cocktails are so fun to play.

Yeah its a little paddle, it just moves left and right....here is a close up
I'm a big fan of Midway cocktails. I think EVERY Pizza Hut I was ever in as a kid had one.
That was before Pizza Hut went to crap.....imo

I have a Galaxian cocktail cabinet in great condition. (Of course it was converted to Arkanoid: R.O.D.). :D

I have no artwork, but I have the Galaxian board and control panels for converting it back. But since I'm getting rid of it, it doesn't seem like I should bother going through the trouble.

That is too cool! I love unique controllers like that.

If I remember correctly the Space Invaders cocktails used a similar control knob. When I bought my Galaxian the player 2 side had a broken knob with an OP repair that looked to be pretty old...

I eventually replaced it with the correct knob but I thought it was interesting.

Very nice machines, I wish one in this kind of condition would pop up around my area. Been looking for years.
