My Galaxian cab doesn't have a back door. How can I make a new one? I can't seem to find useful plans anywhere.

My understanding is that it's just a large board with some vent holes and a lock in it. But are there routed edges or anything to help hold it in place?

Sample image from someone else, which gives me a general idea, but isn't detailed enough to make a replacement:

Pacman door will also work. That would be easier to find, you'd just have to prime and paint it white.

I have to make one shortly for my Galaxian cab, I will post the measurements when I get home. Usually they are MDF from the factory I think, 1/2" thick.

I haven't hung out behind it in a while, but I'm almost certain the back door on my Pac isn't 3/4", but more like 1/2".

Could be, but both my Galaxian and Pacman are both routed plywood panels. I'll get the micrometers out when I get home.

Easiest way would be to buy a 2x4' "hobby" sheet at Lowes or Home Depot, use a dado stack on a tablesaw to make the bottom edge that fits into the groove. Measure inside width of cabinet opening, cut back about 1/16-1/8" less than that. Cut to length. I did this for a B'time door, but never painted it.

This is what I do, the 2x4 sheet at Lowes almost fits perfectly. Once you cut it to the right hight, use the bit thats left over and attach it to the bottom of the door, on the inside. That is if you dont have a router or dados. Then a simple cam lock will keep the door securely shut.

And by the way, thats one fugly galaxian!

That's the way my MK is done from the factory. Just remember that if you don't have stop cleats on the LH and RH side already, you will need to add some to keep the door from falling in. 4 strips 1"x1" wood will do nicely.
