Galaxian (1979) or Galaga (1981)

Galaga.

And it's not even close.

I wish that I could just close this thread now with only my post.
^ This. I have played both, Galaga is the better game by a long shot.

My vote? None of the above. It's bootleg Galag for me baby.

Why? Because it consistently works well. In my nicely restored Galaga cab resides a bootleg PCB. Works awesome and has for a long time. Suckers...

We had a thread on this in late October of last year. I am lazy I am going to cut and paste what I said last year....

I like them both and they really are different games. That being said, if I had to pick one, I would go with Galaxian.

I am not great at Galaxian so for me it is a short, challenging game. With that one more game charm.

I am not great at Galaga either. However, it does require for me more of a time commitment. It is fun but that time commitment sometimes stops me from playing it.

Of course you should have included Space Invaders (1978) in your list as it's the father and grandfather, respectively, of both games listed.

Each game was a milestone in arcade history, and it only makes sense that the last one is the best. But you can't have Galaga without the other two...

So my pick is Space Invaders (1978).

.

I own both but trying to sell my Galaxian. Galaga was my first ever video purchase, so I'll never sell that one.
