i picked up an original galaga today

unfortunately the college kid i bought it from knew nothing about it

when it wouldnt work, he decided to put a tv in it instead, he never did that

but here is the problem

he tried removing the guts, and when the screws wouldnt come out he ripped out the wiring
in sections, the monitor is missing the chassis , ive never had a galaga until now

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE submit pics of inside the cab so i can figure out whats missing and maybe get a replacement harness?

thanks in advance

darren

I'll have to check. I think I have a Galaga harness. It's either the one I pulled from mine when I multicaded it or one I got when i bought a bunch of stuff in a box on Ebay.

PS actually multicading is a viable option it's pretty easy to drop in a JAMMA harness, a switcher, an 8way joystick and an extra button and you are set to go.

i have a 60n1 as well as 2 reunion boards(untested one is missing a diode) but i've never done a conversion

Galaga Harness

If Ken and the strikes out and you dont want to wait for the other harness. I have one ready to go for $30 shipped.

The effort to bring it back to galaga will be harder than making it jamma.. Then it sounds like your going to try to turn it into jamma with an adapter to play a 60 in 1?

truly i prefer to keep it original, i have the boards, probably need to have eproms burned

but if not then ill make it a 60n1 or the reunion

ok how easy would it be to just go with a jamma harness? and could i use a different monitor?

The JAMMA harness is the easy part.

You can fit virtually any 19" horizontal mount CGA monitor. The frame that holds the monitor is rotated 90 degrees so it works like a vertical monitor.

When I converted mine, I wanted to keep the original AC power setup so I removed the low voltage transformer and wired the switcher into the low voltage input lines. That kept the isolation transformer to run the monitor.

That seems to work pretty well.

If the monitor works but is burned, there is a space for a tinted piece of plexiglass on the monitro frame. That hides a lot of the burn.
