Purchased this a year ago and having some issues with the power supply. Game PCB works great hooked up to my jamma test bench and the monitor looks fine connected to my test pattern generator. I was going to install a modern switching power supply but this thing looks different that any Galaga machine I've been able to reference. As the title says, it's using the 'suitcase' power chassis with the A082-90421-C0000 medium power supply. The Galaga / Midway Power Supply Kits sold online don't have the correct number of pins, since it appears most machines are using a different power supply board. My question is, can I use this, since it replaces the 'A082-90421-C0000' which is in my machine.

Is this an original Galaga that was working?

Your harness and lin. Power supply appear to be from a different game. You can clearly see the tow are pinned differently. I wouldn't trust it. Just grab and original Galaga harness. There has to be piles of them as people love gutting these cabs for multicades.

Yes, was working perfect. It's an original Galaga Cabinet. Has some original paperwork still stapled inside the cabinet. And yes, pinned different but the wiring looks all original. I'm wondering if later versions of this game used a different power setup.

Also, found something similar for sale on this site from a few years ago that says it came out of a Galaga machine. And another I assume was sold on ebay...

This Galaga was the later run, after a couple of years they decided to do another run of Ms pacman and Galaga's this is why you have a different transformer assembly (the suite case) the power supply should be the same between the 2, the connector has multiple pins for the same output voltage even though there in a different spot, if you look on the linear power supply you will find a number and it should match the older Galaga's follow that pinout you can also measure voltage at the pcb board to match the schematics ( you will probably not find a manual on this version) I would rebuild the linear power supply, check all your fuses and make sure there good

Thanks for the reply. Today i ordered a kit to fix that linear power supply. Couple weeks ago I bought a manual for Mappy and took out the pages for this chassis and power supply. Actually has the schematic for the exact same linear power supply in this Galaga. Spent the day reading a bunch and looking at schematics and tracing wires. Think i got it all figured out.

Just to follow up on this. I hooked the wiring harness to the other Midway power supply that came in the mail today and the Galaga machine is working once again. Parts also arrived to fix the original power supply so I'll work on that in a couple weeks, but happy to be up and running once again... And it's always nice to learn something about these machines.
