Quick question for you guys. I have imported a Galaga machine down to Australia and will need to get a stepdown transformer as we are on 220v, you guys are on 110v.

I believe that I need to know the watts of the machine to get the right size transformer.

Can anyone help out with this info please. Don't want to blow the bugger up when get it.

If this is an original, Midway, Galaga, with the original (linear) power supply... the schematics show that the transformer has a tap for 220VAC. You should be able to find that, move the wire from the 110VAC tap, and be good to go on your voltage (adapting the plug as needed).

If you want to, or must, use an external step-down xformer, I'd say 300W would be a good selection. It has a 2.5A main fuse, so the actual typical operational draw is likely under 200W.

PS- if you move the tap on the original PS, and run it directly off of 220V, I'd suggest swapping out the main fuse for a lower value, like 1A or 1.5A.
