Hello,

I have recently bought my first arcade (Galaga upright). I plan on restoring it and keeping it for entertainment. I will be posting pictures on the progress. Does anyone have any tips or online resources for restoring a Galaga Upright?

It looks like there is no real thread for an end to end Galaga restore but a quick search of "Galaga Restoration" yields some helpful topics:

Just use the search for terms like "restoration" and whatever tip you're looking for such as:

"Paint"

"Side-Art" or "side art"

Also things like "Repro" or "reproduction" side-art and marquees.

Find out the model number of your monitor. (Not the tube type) So if it's a Wells Gardner or an Electrohome or whatever it will have a number. K4600, 19K7203, G07 or something else... Cap kits will be available from two places: Zanen or the Real Bob Roberts. You should google both and search here for what it means to install a cap kit.

There are tons of helpful restoration threads here some more deeply documented than others. Some searches that I've used for suggestions are:

Tron Restoration

Dig Dug Restore / Restoration

Star Trek Cockpit restoration

EDOT

The above users have mad skillz.

Read their threads before you barrage 'em with questions so you don't come off as a huge noob.

And if you just want to drool over crazy pristine cabinets search for Fizgig restoration.
