Has anybody seen this issue before in the photo. The bees do not look correct. They are way too small and don't have any detail. My fighter ship at the bottom is all white with no red lines. And I noticed that the Galaga main ships at the very top of the screen turn into a tiny rectangle when you shoot it once.

Any ideas? The board boots up OK. Dip switches work OK. Player 1 and 2 work OK. It will coin up if not on free play OK. Wondering what chip to replace or check for this gameplay issue.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Those chips are usually really cruddy and fragile. I would remove and clean all the socketed chips and see if that helps. Be very careful with the legs, they break easily.

Yes, good suggestion. I was able to remove most of the socket chips and cleaned them. I also check all the traces on the board and don't see any issues. Kinda strange because it used to work and now just stopped.

I do have another board I am using for parts and swapped some chips from there but no change.

I will give it another once over and clean again and see if that helps. I was hoping somebody might know exactly what set of chips is responsible for the characters on the screen so I can only focus on them.

Thanks,

There's also a Galaga Renew Kit that a member on here sells. It comes with all the replacement sockets and resistor packs. That could possibly be your next course of action.
