Buddy messaged me on a deal for two gutted Galaga cabs. He kept one, I kept one. Picked it up about two weeks ago. Scrambled around KLOV for all the gutz.

Found all the gutz
-pcb
-metal work
-power supply
-coin door
-harness
-plastics

Pic to come.

Do you have the CP squared away? I have an unused overlay that somehow got a tiny little incy-weency rip in it, enough to trigger my OCD so I won't be using it. If you aren't a perfectionist, I can give you a smokin deal on it. PM me if interested.

I appreciate the offer, but I just put in an order with Phoenix on Monday and ordered two. Looking for a separate Kickplate though if you know of one under $50

Darin would sell you a kickplate separate. If your order hasn't shipped, maybe you can get one in quick.

I tried , but they are sold as sets only. No worries, Order should be delivered tomorrow. I'll post some pictures shortly. So far, Working with folks on KLOV has been really great in tracking down all the parts.

Here's the cab as it sits.

Tested the speaker:

Got too excited and redid a spare coin door I had. Use the one two pass and then weak press 3ft away method

I should get artwork in shortly and then off to Lowes to buy a whole bunch of screws and bondo! I have the back door and was going to try and sand it slightly so that the swollen bits would fit in their grooves.

i might be interested if you still gots and need a buyer ... how "ripped" is this rip (and where)?

Saturday!

Mucked about today, bought a bulb and a starter and blew a fuse and a bulb. So I guess the marquee light is trash. Tested the power supply after swapping out a 5a fuse and it seemed to work great on the MS Pac marquee light, switches and interlock were good!

Back door seems too long and not wide enough, not sure if that's a swollen issue or I was given a door that was from a different game.

The back handles seem to be an 6 screw version instead of 4 screw version like my in Ms Pac, not sure what up with that but if anyone is looking to swap, hit me up.

I wonder if that is just the mark of an earlier Galaga. Galaga #1742

Just recently picked up a Galaga myself. Here's a pic of my handles. Looks they they are the 4 screw type as well. Strange. Why would anybody have changed out the 8 screw for 4 screw ones? Was that a thing?
Also, mine has a hole right in between the handles, anyone know what that would have been used for?

You need a ballast. The fixture isn't trash. There are 3 parts. Bulb, starter, ballast. You've verified that the ballast is the bad part. :D

Did some scraping,

The. Covered everything in goo gone and paper towels and put it in a trash bag. I'll scrape all the stickiness off in a while.

Applying the decals!! Wow the wet method is sooo much easier!! Windex is your friend!!

Brought the cabinet down to the basement for final "air conditioned assembly"

Had some weird waterspots on the glass tried vinegar and nothing so went with toothpaste and it did the trick!
