I picked up this Galaga at Greg & Pauls Fresno sale back in August of last year. It worked, but the coin door was toast, and the front of the cab had a chunk missing from an attempt to rip the lock bar off. I replaced the coin door with a straight one and played it for a few months, thinking I would replace the cpo and do some touch up paint here and there...
A couple of months ago, I started having board issues, so I thought that would be a good time to do my "mini-restore". I started tearing apart the cab, the whole time thinking that even though the sides will be hidden when the cab is in a row in my gameroom, I'll know that their not perfect. So, I now have a complete art package from Phoenix Arcade to install, which means I'll be restoring the whole cab...
Here's a few pics of the cab when I first picked it up, and where it is now. I still have to scrape off the sideart from 1 side, and repair the damage to the coin door area, then I can begin painting.

Awesome Greg! I remember when you picked that one up. Good times. I miss my Galaga, but it's in a good home now (Scubasteve).

I look forward to seeing your progress. It will be nice to see a minty Galaga in your lineup. :)

The Galaga you sold me has been sitting in my garage since I picked it up from you last year due to lack of space in my arcade. Didn't help that I had 2 other Galaga cabinets that were taking up the space but I'm happy to say that they've found new homes. pmichelsen picked up the empty cabinet and a friend of a KLOV member just picked up the other one. I can finally move my Galaga in!! WOO HOO!

Man that thing looks pretty bad. (although I think it was one of the better ones) I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. I've got about six restores on my to do list and I need some inspiration.

Way to finish a thread....

Whoa, easy there big fella...

I agree, I haven't had any updates, but that's because there's nothing much to update.:) I did weld up some extra holes in the cp, but the rest of the cab is still torn apart in my garage. I need to finish my Sea Wolf first, then this Galaga will be finished up. Sorry, sometimes life gets in the way of this hobby...

I know, I know... I really do intend to work on this sometime soon.

It's just that I get other projects that I get involved in and the Galaga just remains on the back burner. Now you guys have shamed me into it, so I'll make a commitment to get this finished before Halloween. :)

It's funny you mention the Star Wars Jess, I've been working on it lately. I'll post about it when I'm done. The bottom had some bad water damage, so I cut it off and replaced it. I had to replace 3 microswitches in the yoke as well, only 1 was working.

Haha, well, at least you're getting stuff done. Looking forward to seeing pics.

Hey Greg, is this the same one in your garage?

...sadly, yes. You just had to bump this, didn't you ;). Just kidding man. Yeah, this thing is definitely my "back burner" restore - it always get's shoved to the back burner! I finished the cabinet work and it is primered, just needs a bit of time with some sandpaper and it will be ready for some good old Rustoleum Satin Black. I'll finish it someday - or will I?
