So I have a Galaga I'm restoring. The board boots up and works, but it keeps auto-firing without me even pushing the fire button.

Is this some ROM hack from Arcadeshop or somewhere else?

Is there a way to turn it off? Jumper settings? Magic screen that pops up if I press some combination of buttons?

I tried moving the jumper on the auto-fire sub-board (or quick fire or whatever it's called), but then it won't shoot at all.

Any tips would be appreciated.

thanks,
ChaosJohn

Sounds more like wiring or board issue.

Make sure you fire button wiring is not shorting to ground or something.

If the wiring looks good, it could be the I/O chip (usually a PIA)
which could be acting strangely.

Either way, I don't think it's an eprom problem.

Good Luck.

More info - I'm actually working on restoring TWO Galagas. In one cabinet, both boards auto-fire. In the other cabinet not. So I suspect you're right about a short somewhere in the wiring harness. I'll track it down.
