So I got a Galaga table top from a friend and it has a Ram 2L problem and I figured out the ram on socket 3E on the video board is bad. Does anybody know where i can pick one of these up like a frys electronics, or a arcade store online? I did some searches but came up empty handed.

Also is there any parts on the boards I can just switch it out that wont effect game play? This is sorta of a pain to find one single set of ram. Tried ebay but short of buying a broken board just to get one chip is the only way i'll get the chip i need.

Can anyone suggest a different solution?

Swap the RAMs around... 2 to 1 says the RAM is good. ;)

If you have bad sockets and/or tarnished legs on the 08xx chips you'll get that error.

Galaga is NOTORIOUS for bad sockets and resistor packs. I sell a "renew kit" on my website with all new 24/28/40/42 pin sockets and resistor packs.

Its the ram I changed it to a different socket and the error code changed from 2L to 2H so its the ram. I checked the site in the reply and think I need 2114-2L Ram but its all snail mail and not sure how to pay since he doesnt take pp, cc, mo. Is there anywhere else I can find this ram?

You can order it from channelmanic (above post) or my website. My site takes paypal, I think Raymond's does as well.

Also, make sure youre getting enough power. My Galaga will give me RAM 2L until I turn the power supply up past +5. I think I have mine set to 5.5/closer to 6, and it works every time. Galaga likes a lot of juice.
